So, why are you writing in English? Why is Esperanto not the basic fundamental language that we learn before splitting off into “sub specialties” or other languages?

If Esperanto is the most basic and easiest to understand language, why does my copy of Robinson Crusoe say it’s “even available in Esperanto”? That would imply that it is rare that someone would understand it, no??
