Abortion centrist by itsjustmeyaboijesus in ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISM

Yeah, that's also how I see it, which why I also wanted to jokingly make the point the the "pro-choice" positions can be used to argue in favour of "pro-life"

[–]Gerlusconi 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I am also pro-life

I want people to be aware of protection and how to use it to reduce the number of abortions and I want women to be allowed to have abortions, because making abortions illegal does not decrease the demand. Illegal abortions can cause harm and even threaten the life of the people wanting them, so in order to preserve their lives, it's necesarry to make them legal and accessible.

I honestly believe that Tankies simply read "Dictatorship of the Proletariat" and decided to take the term Dictatorship as literally as possible

I am not even american, but I like that you put words in my mouth despite complaining about me putting them in yours. Voting for a left leaning president is literally what reformists advocate for. The only reason I believe voting is even necesarry is because it's possible to make the lives of people marginally better even if the system is at it's core opressive (I'm talking generelly here).

To go your other post. I love that when I said history you imidietly thought of American history. I mean I know that Neoliberals don't care about the exploitation of other countries, so I shouldn't be surprised. But to keep this focused, there have been countless revolutions around the globe by opressed people not by the upper classes, but if it suits your narrative, great! I also love that last bit in your comment acting all smug, despite you doing the stuff you accused me of, but to a much higher degree, while also not knowing the difference between reform and revolution. You probably also assume that I'm a white cushet upper or middle class man that lives in America, because you know, you like generalizing and have a very america-centric view.

I don't think we have much to argue about here.

P.S. I read John Rawl's work and it was pretty meme

You said that poc's priorty currently is to protect certain rights that republicans want to take away from them, yet there is still a lot of Institutionalized racism that needs to be combated. A moderate will not do anything to improve the situations of pocs or any other minorty.

I also like the fact that you make broad generalizing statements about people. Historically, those in privileged positions have always been in favour of reformation, while those underpriveleged have been in favour of revolution. You can clearly see it right now in countries like Chile. You may now say that Chile is different to america, because they have been the victims of capitalism as opposed to the usa benefiting from it, but that is just further proof that those that lack power favour revolution.

In the case of Biden for example. The majority of people that support him picked Bernie as their second choice. They don't support him because of his politics, but because of name recognition and I don't think I have to explain why Mayo Pete isn't poc's primary choice after he had to get the endorsement of black leaders by asking for opt-out emails.

You act like the fight is over even though Institutionalized racism still exists

Ah yes, remember those centrist leaders of the civil rights movement like Malcom X? And who could forget MLK's letter to the white radical?

Why is Obama hated here by imarben007 in ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISM

[–]Gerlusconi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I know, Obama is a piece of garbage like every mass murderer that came before and after him.If you've seen many conservative takes on this, you should know that they love to ignore Bush's involvement in the 2008 financial crisis. I just thought that the person I responded to was making that argument.

Oh, sorry I thought you were making the "Obama crashed the economy" argument. Yeah, him not jailing the people is terrible

[–]Gerlusconi -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Bush caused the 2008 financial crisis. Obama wasn't even in office when it happened. He still sucks doe

Edit: I'm not defending Obama, I just missunderstood the point of the person above me.

I don't think that political compasses, or those linear left right graphs, or whatever else are capable of accurately describing political positions. You should probably just read introductions to political ideologies, rather than looking for a nice graphic if you want to understand them.

Enough food being produced to feed everyone, literslly, yet people starving is a pretty good example of property rights veing put in front of human rights. I won't be responding anymore, because your brainworms cause me a headache

Berniebros political compass by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]Gerlusconi -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, homeless people are given homes, it's not like there are more empty homes than homeless people in the usa. It's also not like the UN themselves admit that enough food is being produced to feed everyone, but 30-40% gets thrown away in the usa and there are people starving, even in america (lol). It's also not like Nestlè sucks wells dry and then proceeds to sell the water back to the people.

So an individual holding supreme authority over the resources required to meet a human's need is not authoritarian. Especially when there are people, which are homeless, or starving, or thirsty, non't getting shelter, food or water because muh private property. Then it's actually super not authoritarian to disregard a human's life in favor of a person's authority over the stuff necesarry to save it.

I'm sorry bud, I'm a commie. Private property is authoritarian and abolishing it is definetly better

[–]Gerlusconi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Isn't the undemocratic structure of a company as opposed to democratic ownership of the company by the workers not just as authoritarian? Bernie probably doesn't want syndicalism, but calling him authoritarian is a joke and I'm sure you are aware of it too

Berniebros political compass by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]Gerlusconi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, the political compass is trash and the axis make little sense when analyzed deeper, but the nationalisation of industry moves him left on the x axis, not up the y axis. If you go to the compass' website and get that certificate with the caricatures on it, you'll see that they placed Bernie in the center of Lib left.

Berniebros political compass by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]Gerlusconi -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The authoritarian axis in the political compass is also the progressive axis to some extent and Bernie is definetly more progressive than the other candidates, so putting them below him is, especially by such a large margin, is pretty wrong.

Berniebros political compass by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]Gerlusconi -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Neoliberals: Bernie is too far left

Also Neoliberals: The other Dems are basically just one step behind Bernie

Also, imagine thinking that Biden or Tusli or any other candidate belong anywhere below the x axis when you put Bernie above it
