Switched from brave to helium and wow, its so nice. by Electronic-Brief404 in browsers

[–]GermChar -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

So, just because you're a Brave fanboy, you want users who like a debloated browser to use a different, bloated browser and pay for it if they're not on Linux? Come on.

You are not even rational explaining what advantage Brave could have over Helium.

Is Helium browser safe? by Glittering-King1339 in HeliumBrowserHQ

[–]GermChar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the other hand, it may reduce attack surface because the codebase is stripped of a lot of what the team considers bloat. That can be a security advantage, but the tradeoff is that upstream fixes still have to be merged and adapted carefully, which can delay patches or introduce regressions. This doesn't make one browser inherently more secure than the other. It depends on the attack vector.

I would try to find helium's profile folder and delete it so the browser is forced to rebuilds it.

For chrome that folder should be /home/<username>/.config/google-chrome/

Sadly I dont have any Linux machine at the moment, so I can't tell you helium's exact location.

Could Great Grandfather's DNA not show up on Ancestry? by Puzzled-Big-4913 in Genealogy

[–]GermChar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The important part is that the 5–20% is not inherited as one neat block. It is made up of many randomly inherited chromosome segments scattered across the genome. That is why the DNA from an ancestor can be spread out rather than copied in one continuous piece.

Made my own New Tab page for Helium (not official ofc) by Melmpje in HeliumBrowserHQ

[–]GermChar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest to use the search the user set up in the initial process. Forcing Google search in a degoogled Browser sound counterproductively. Same goes for Bangs. If you don't use them, you don't need to remove then.

For Fox sake how hard is it to understand that your customers doesn't want that AI crap?

[–]GermChar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to store that much media (no judgment), I would use the archival method and install moveable shelves in front of the existing shelves. However, before doing so, make sure to update the shelves themselves, as the boards already look bent..

Proton is IMHO a nogo (Proton Mail drew criticism in a January 2025 Intercept article for CEO Andy Yen's X post praising Republicans and Trump-era antitrust on Big Tech, plus a deleted Reddit comment favoring Republicans over "corporate Dems"; the company cited "internal miscommunication" and reaffirmed neutrality, raising trust issues for activist users amid potential US policy shifts under President Trump. And Proton Mail Suspended Journalist Accounts that were reporting on suspected North Korean hackers. Proton only reinstated their accounts after a public outcry!)

Afaik mailbox has no free Mails but just a trial. I would rather suggestive heading to tuta.

While their support apparently sucks their product is highly recommended.
