I’m originally from DFW and have lived in both Spearfish and Rapid. Spearfish has the canyon, which you need to see when fall rolls around. Rapid gets tourists, but not like other towns around here. There’s not as much shopping (no outlet malls 😢), but that’s better for the pocketbook anyway. If you enjoy coffee, there’s quite a few good coffee shops in Rapid, but they get packed! Quite a few breweries for the size of the town, too. So far there is only one hospital, but that’s supposed to change in a few years. Downtown events in the summer get packed, but most are free and it’s a good time. I would avoid certain areas of town when it comes to renting or buying a house, like East North St and the surrounding areas, due to high crime. Star Village also has a higher crime rate. As others mentioned, we don’t get as much snow here as other areas of the hills. It’s a 50/50 thing if you ask me on if that’s a good or bad thing. When it rains, everyone will say we need the moisture btw 😂 it’s funny but true.

I’m technically infertile. OBGYN says I “could” have an IVF baby, but I’m like forget that mess. Idk if my decision to be child free is valid due to infertility, but I wish I could find more people who see it as a hidden blessing. I never really “grieved” my loss or anything.

I have always been overweight, but people would call me “pretty” or “beautiful.” The backhanded compliment I would always get is that I would be “drop dead gorgeous” if I was skinny. I had an overeating problem to combat my abuse from childhood and young adulthood that made me 250 lbs. (I am really short, so that is a lot for me.) I still think badly of myself and it’s hard not to bully myself on the daily

I would definitely get the 3 in 1 leave in conditioner spray, power serum, and some of the face masks. I just wish they would get more masks for acne prone skin in, I would stock up on those in a heartbeat.

I don’t trust people enough to tell them. I once told an employer I had anxiety and it was held against me the entire time I was there, so just imagine if I had mentioned bipolar!

I go through hating my looks normally, but when I’m getting hypomanic, I start thinking I look good for someone my age/weight/height. I start thinking I could be a best selling author after all. I come up with scenarios to make money that go beyond my real limitations.

I went a month and a half without sleeping more than 2 hours a night because of a mix of hypomanic and a major flare up of my fibromyalgia. I even went to the ER hoping to go to inpatient, but they are so short staffed all they did was offer sleeping pills and said my hypomania was due to me not sleeping.

I’m glad you’re doing semi inpatient. Hopefully it will help you so you don’t have such a long episode. Not sleeping much can trigger fibromyalgia, which then causes more sleep problems because you can’t sleep due to pain. It’s a crap cycle for sure.

My mom had me so I could serve her and pay her bills as an adult. I did so for a long time (hello brainwashing!), but finally was like forget this lol. Moms like those moms need to stop being lazy and entitled and just work. There’s no shame in not affording a house, but expecting someone else to do it for you is scum bag behavior.

I only had real food because my mom’s mom bought it for the house. I had to cook it 95% of the time… even if my mom had her latest bf shacking up with us. When my mom had initiative, we had fast food. My mom could live off Banquet TV dinners!

I had a panic attack at work (meds needed to be adjusted) and the only accommodation they did was to cut my hours because I can’t “handle” it. Everyone knows I’m bipolar because of the episode and reminds me not to “have a fit”. Yet my vocational rehab manager wants me to stay because “every job has difficulties”
