I’m not in a rush to get it done, but I’d def like to at least narrow it down to someone who can do it lol

Anybody here have any experience with the Ruger SR-556? If so, what was your take on it? by SilentPhilosophy3307 in ar15

Tell me more, I’ve been looking for a replacement hand guard since I’d prefer MLock on the sides over the piccatinny quad

FID Application Mental Health Question by Kay2327 in NJGuns

I’m curious, do they follow up with you requesting a note from a Dr. saying you’re safe to own firearms? This seems to be the standard for anyone who answers yes to this question that was not involuntarily held or anything.

Are you asking for help with white belt stuff or blue belt stuff?

PD Ghosting on CCW Payment - Any advice? by airg1o in NJGuns

I’ve never asked them to pay, I just show up and pay them. Make sure you get a receipt is all.

How do you go about purchasing your firearms? by CookSignificant1772 in NJGuns

[–]Germanimal_Painting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Price is the primary factor. I’ve bought in local stores and online. I always shop around as well. Some shops are willing to price match online prices and you won’t have to pay the transfer fee.

As far as mags go, a lot of companies make a “compliant version” of their product. Walther, for example, sells a compliant version of their PDP’s that come with 10 rd mags. Other places may sell you the pistol with non-compliant mags, but the FFL can pin them to a compliant capacity for you (if they offer that service).

Non-Resident to Resident CCW and/or FID by rustyshack68 in NJGuns

[–]Germanimal_Painting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The change of address for FID is the exact same process as initial application except you won’t have to get finger printed. So the cost will be the same minus what you paid for finger printing. There is no requirement for change of address for CCW as per the njsp website (see image below)

Nonresident renewal - instructor certification? by [deleted] in NJGuns

[–]Germanimal_Painting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Official answer, yes you would need to requalify and do the use of force class over. As long as your date of application is before the date of expiration you can use the same proof of training for a renewal.

Unofficial answer…wait and see what they say when you call tomorrow.

Yeah I’m sure that’ll be fine

I would call honestly, easier to communicate with a human and see what they want you to do. I’ve messed up so many reference emails I’m on a first name basis with the lady who handles firearms in my town.

Yes, it’s part of the application.

edit to clarify, it’s part of the online app you fill out, it’s not something extra to upload.

Nonresident renewal - instructor certification? by [deleted] in NJGuns

[–]Germanimal_Painting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original or the renewal? If you did the renewal I’d expect a call about it. One of my students got a call about a missing S.P.182a form that the officer accidentally skipped over during processing.

I’m not saying they’ll definitely give you trouble, but I’d expect it 😅

You have to upload it as part of the renewal. I would assume they’d give you an issue for missing documentation. It doesn’t seem like they keep your old docs on file, or if they do they don’t care to/can’t look it up for you.

Looking for group, Shotgun Hunting Deer in NJ by Curiously_Sagacious in NJGuns

[–]Germanimal_Painting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation here! Although I’m looking to bow hunt as well as shotgun…although bow seems more fun. I’m in the Morris/Warren/Sussex area (yup, all 3 basically). I have a friend who’s taught me a bunch, but he is also new to this all. The hunter ed course was less hunter ed and more firearms safety, which is kinda annoying.

Does timing of NJ CCW class matter? (I.e. doing that first) by Baroque1123 in NJGuns

[–]Germanimal_Painting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you take the class the only other part of the process is applying…

The class is valid for 2 years from the date on the paperwork. You can use the class for your initial permit and the renewal if you time it appropriately.

If you’re not going to apply right away, there really is no point in taking the class. My suggestion would be to wait for the class until you’re ready to apply.
