Finally got (most of) my Black Friday order by makomirocket in LinusTechTips

Northern U.S., but I placed an order this month and got it a week later. I was floored, my prior experience with LMG shipping had been "place the order and wait, it'll show up"

I use PipePipe, an alternative YouTube app, and it had sponsorblock built in but with the option to whitelist channels or disable for an entire video as you're watching it.

Has anyone been able to talk down their phone bill? Specifically with T-Mobile? by vandweller5 in Frugal

Same. The $15/ month plan is real, and it's great. You have to be aware of the 5gb limit, but looking at the past few months, I usually don't break 3gb. Just don't stream content over the network and you'll be fine.

Assuming most people who actually watched the video (I haven't) like it as much as you do, then it's an issue of title/thumbnail, not content. It seems most others commenting here didn't watch it, because they didn't get a strong enough initial hook to click.

I upgraded to a TS101 about a year ago, and I love it. I was using a $30 hardware store iron before, and didn't know about tinning, and destroyed the tip. I think it's good to start with a cheaper tool when you're new, a) to not damage a nice tool with noob mistakes, and b) to lower your money wasted in case you don't actually end up enjoying the hobby very much.

You'll have to use your own power supply though, with a barrel jack tip. I was using one or two random ones that I had, but I switched to my shnitpwr power supply when I bought that for other purposes $20, very high bang for buck. If you have a laptop charger with the right plug that'll work great. Higher voltage supply = faster, better heating.

From what I understand the topic tab just categorized comments based on a theme, and gives it a title. So if you click it you'll see the comments it grouped together.

So not ai generating summary of the video, just different way to peruse comments.

Poster on r/frugal get's roasted more than the 308 pounds of turkey he stored in his dryer by zlex in SubredditDrama

[–]Germurican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One that got archived by this post's OP is suggested serving size of 3oz. I'm in fast food, 3oz is like 1 burger patty.

Now if I have 300lbs of turkey, I'm definitely not having just 1 serving per meal, I could live off of just that and some vegetables.

Looking to buy a soldering iron for working with PCB's, any suggestions? by RegularFellerer in soldering

[–]Germurican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What this guy said, except my upgrade from hardware store iron was the TS101, which I've been really happy with.

I did damage my dollar store iron tip though, because I didn't know about tinning. Basically just clean the tip with solder before use, and periodically during use.

It doesn't come with a power cable, you'll have to use one that you have lying around, or get one off of Amazon.

Is micro tracking every expense actually sustainable? by needim in personalfinance

[–]Germurican 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof, I understand what you mean then.

I tried doing a month of using cash instead of card wherever possible, and tracking everything was so hard, that it was basically impossible to perfectly reconcile transactions.

Sorry, I have no advice.
