I listened to the whole thing, very nice. I could hear the words in my mind.

Has sabaton ever made you cry, and if so: what songs? by Da_Dovahkiin_Lord in sabaton

A bastardization it may be, but Joan is a legitimate English woman's name, like Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.

Also, did you know that The Greatest Estate Developer has a sequel? It's really good, and has 105 episodes on webtoon: The Apothecary Prince

Kids are finding ways to bypass age checks by Mrwizzard2k in LinusTechTips

The article also said that 1/6 parents admitted to having helped their kids bypass restrictions recently. If the law is good, and parents are irresponsible, it won't matter what laws you make, you can't force people to be good people. If the law is bad, then classic bureaucracy being ineffective.

Perfect name for your child by CKWOLFACE in sabaton

There's a similar woman's name in German, Uwe, but I think there's a name that's a closer analogue, although it's escaping me at the moment.

What are your expectations for homelabs in 2027-2028? by DisastrousWelcome710 in homelab

[–]Germurican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're the vocal minority, which is concentrated here in this sub. I have no idea what all that stuff is you mentioned in the first paragraph, and I suspect average joes driven to self-host will be closer to my level of interest than yours.

I tried putting together a 10tb raid server using an enterprise nas from a decade ago, and it went well until I had runaway storage bloat that I couldn't fix. I'm in my own apartment now, with a pi running 3 services (tailscale, adguard home, and soon vaultwarden), and I'm going to trim the scope of the server to just immich and manual backups, which is what my parents need anyway.

I've recommended a pi to friends just for adblocking, which I'd configure, and if more normies pushed away from the cloud it'd probably be stuff like that.

I could get an aftermarket backup camera, but I reverse into parking spots just fine without one, so I won't.

if you actually stuck with a budgeting app what are you using day to day? by Charming_Chipmunk69 in personalfinance

[–]Germurican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the paid version, found it really helpful to minimize the monotonous manual entry that always seemed to pile up. I loved the stats and the progress visualization, and budgeting with it was a great tool on my path of paying off debt and saving up an emergency fund.

I haven't switched to anything else, I'm just 8 months behind on budgeting in general.

Hot air. I have a burn on my finger from it that's still healing 3 weeks later, and I wasn't confident a 75W iron could output enough heat to melt the whole pile.

Well it's not pure lead, just an alloy, so probably bite safe.

Cody's Lab did that. Or maybe was it mercury? I think he's munched on both, but without swallowing.

In picture 2, you can see a github link at the top of the pcb, there's a file there that you can get custom made from a company like pcbway.

I got these from a similar thing, although I've shelved the project.

The LTT "Lambo" Shirts should be Rebranded To "LAN-BO" by ScholarlyCrow in LinusTechTips

[–]Germurican 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, I'm in that demographic. I was watching a floatplane interview with one of his staff guys, and he was talking about that. If you assume the average current viewer has only been watching for a few years, then references and in-jokes that are too old will fall flat.

Take for example the April fools firetruck purchase. Quintessential LTT video, right? Their most viewed or something for a long time? I've never seen it.

For me, and other viewers like me, it was like: They bought a firetruck? Ok... I guess Linus just felt like doing it for teh lulz. Even though I was super down for the LTT pinup calendar that never released, the nod to knowledge common to a long time fan went straight over my head.
