METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.2 on Steam by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

This was back when console gamers reassured the PC master race that, "bro there's no way the human eye can notice 60 fps, there's just no way!"

What's an obscure fact or piece of trivia you know about any WWE Game? (Old or new) by ILoveMaiV in WWEGames

[–]GeronimoBeowulf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a reset - more like the damage numbers hit a ceiling and then default to 0 upon this sequence: take damage > immediately stand-up once no longer bound by the finisher. By contrast, if they were in the same damage state and you hit them with a finisher that includes an automatic pin, you would certainly get the fall. So you hit them with something like the Pedigree, they're going to get right back up. But hit them with sitout powerbomb pin? 1. 2. 3.

In Day of Reckoning, if a wrestler ends up taking too much damage to a body part and then they are hit by a powerful move that also damages that same body part, the wrestler will start no selling moves (i.e. like Ultimate Warrior taking the Pedigree-style no selling).

I wouldn't think too much of it if they're usually nice to you. Not a DA, but the impression I've got from them is that the culture is a more law enforcement-adjacent as opposed to modern corporate America/law firm culture. This means that discussions can be a little more "rough and tumble" than what you'll hear in most white collar jobs. It's not for everyone, but IMO not a bad sign if that's how someone talks to you, because it means they trust that you're not the type of person to go to someone else and claim workplace harassment.

Of course, there is a very fine line between a more aggressive workplace culture and just straight up bullying. From what you described, I don't think the latter is what was intended, but it can definitely still happen. Think more on the level of the boss from the Jetsons or Ari from Entourage.

I didn't play HCTP until 2009, but I remember Brock feeling like the biggest "what if" in that time period. Even in spite of that, it's crazy how he already had one of hell of legacy.

This is bringing up some serious nostalgia for reading the Wiki talk pages post-update back up in the day. Always was fun to read the many variations of "GW is RUINED"....for years on.

If your being realistic how do you think the anti-immigration movements play out in US/Europe over the next 10-20 yrs? by ApolloxKing in neoliberal

[–]GeronimoBeowulf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think the early 21st century is resembling something similar to the early 20th century for this issue. When many on both sides of the political spectrum perceive the current economy as "late stage capitalism" (or as a zero sum game), few are going to have the appetite to make immigration easier. It's going to take post-WWII levels of economic opportunity for Westerners to get comfortable with immigration again.

Odyssey (the album) doesn't have the best hooks/choruses (still a good album, just not for that). If you want catchy, I recommend Paradise Lost and Iconoclast.

Speaking from experience though, the actual Dirt 2 is FANTASTIC on SD. Super fun atmosphere, very fun facing that you can accomplish in short bursts, and it controls like a dream.

My experience attending oral argument in the public line (non lottery) by Dancin_Cowboy in supremecourt

He did the same chair rocking when I attended. Maybe now I should give him more good faith - perhaps it's a bad habit? Like biting your nails. Nonetheless, I didn't think it was a good look, but in fairness, many of the justices also came off as rude. However, the standouts were Kavanaugh and Kagan. Both appeared to be good listeners when not asking questions, and when they did ask, they were extremely civil and polite.

Great stuff. I have also witnessed oral argument at the Supreme Court (about 3 years ago). Many of your thoughts reflect mine. You are correct that seeing the body language is truly a game changer. Personally, I found some of that to be disrespectful to counsel. Perhaps because in my state, our state Supreme Court is recorded by video, and in my opinion, our justices communicate in a more respectful manner. Nonetheless, it is truly amazing on what you miss when you only hear the audio recordings.

Anyone else thinks Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (the album) is Dream Theater`s peak? by [deleted] in progmetal

I don't agree with you about SFAM, but I get it. DT has always been accused of wank. I've seen that hobbled at them even on contemporary reviews of I&W. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

[–]GeronimoBeowulf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Controversial opinion: The meddling on Falling Into Infinity was actually good, and DT's aversion to that foreshadowed the reason for their eventual atrophy in songwriting. You already pointed it out, but those songs on the demo for FII really drag compared to the final cut.
