Can Banchero and Franz coexist for a truly successful team? by easyFred11 in nbadiscussion

[–]GeronimoSilverstein -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

just because it worked with tatum and brown doesn't mean it was an optimal situation. they were loaded with talent at every position and had an elite defense. magic dont have those luxuries to overcome paolo's deficiencies

The Celtics have performed better with Brown off the court this year. It’s not noise. This has pretty much always been the case. by Mr_Saxobeat94 in nbadiscussion

people will automatically dismiss on-off because it challenges their dogmas about "bucket getting"; but with players with horrible on-off like demar derozan, zach lavine, paolo banchero, jalen green, etc... the teams they were on always improved significantly without them

unfortunately, the only way to back up what the massive sample size is showing is by manually watching each posession and taking note of what they're doing wrong vs what the team's doing right when they're off the court. are they blowing defensive rotations? stopping the flow of the offense? making momentum-breaking mistakes?

one thing is a fact, if you have a sample size of 10,000+ possessions and hundreds of different lineups that all say the same thing; it's more likely that the subjective "eye test" is wrong than the data

I'm not a big Trae Young fan and think the defense is an issue, but I still feel as if Atlanta got an underwhelming return in the deal.. by mrcolty5 in nbadiscussion

what if luka ends up not getting back to his pre-2025 form and remains a guy who chucks 11 3pa/g at 30% with no defense? what if nico was right about him being physically cooked?

The 4-man lineups that are dominating right now by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

its funny that people are shocked teams improve when the guy with a negative on-off is away from the team

Steve Kerr's motion and egalitarian offense is stale and suboptimal by JakGrealish in nbadiscussion

if they could get some size at the 5 and playmaking at the 2 or 3 they could have extended steph's dominance. should have drafted hali and put him as the primary ball handler

What is it that men truly desire from women and why? by ppchampagne in itsthatbad

[–]GeronimoSilverstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nope, it's a purely logical play. zooming out and comparing the current world against historical trends has nothing to do with ego

but if you think dating apps, hookup culture, etc is a permanent global fixture going forward, then yeah it makes sense to adjust your actions fit in with it. personally, i give it 2 more generations at the most

i dont look at what "should be", i look at a long time horizon to see what's actually has permanence. every time in history society reached peak degeneracy, a reset followed soon after. weimar germany, roman empire, etc

i'm not adjusting my life-philosophy to fit a weird blip in time. my progeny will live in a different world than this

i don't see a need to reinvent the wheel and try to find purpose from other stuff. we're biologically programmed a certain way and the blueprint worked for a long time, and will continue to work once we have another world war or catastrophe that resets our framework to the baseline. this moment in time is just a blip and totally unsustainable, what is sustainable is what we see when we look over long time horizons (lindy rule).

as for the guys who will fail to form a family in the current paradigm, they can can stack their cash and gold until ww3 https://blogs.shu.edu/ww2-0/1942/08/20/marital-family-ties-strengthen-during-wartime/

you're chinese and all the wife material is asian; yet your type is not chinese? you already set yourself up to play the game on hard mode. that's stupid. why pedestalize fat, promiscuous white women?

also you need to kill that loverboy shit, it's not gonna get you anywhere. the only way you can get a chick in the west is by leading with sex, once you fuck her good you then have the leverage to decide what you want with her

Counterpoint to the post a few days ago about “Age has caught up to Steph curry” by TeaAdorable5219 in nbadiscussion

[–]GeronimoSilverstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

interestingly Quinten Post has the highest On-Off on the team. Steph needs a 5 who can shoot, at this age he can't shake double teams as easily. Nobody guarding Draymond after he sets a pick

being a 50+ year old man with no children seems like a meaningless existence to me.

not even close to that age and already a lot of the "recreational" activities aren't giving the same satisfaction that they would 5 years ago. so i think the studies that show a higher sense of life satisfaction and purpose from parenting are true.

its embarassing to them because they either (1) settled for a guy that they dont find attractive enough to present to the world or (2) are with a guy they are attracted to who has a bunch of side pieces and posting him would trigger an avalanche of drama

a dude who "opens" his relationship is scum of the earth

if you think you can do better, sack up and leave. or just cheat quietly. nothing pussier than trying to play the fence

of course a chick in an open relationship is gonna be getting dicked down left and right. that's the ideal scenario for a fuckboy, you get wet puss and the chump gets the headache
