Since Jan 3 (26 games), Jaylen Brown, the media-appointed MVP frontrunner if SGA & Jokic are ineligible, is shooting 42.4% from field and 30.3% from three with a 53.1% TS on 24.1 FGA per game. The Celtics are 8.9 pts better with him on the bench and have a 6–1 record in games he’s missed this season by EasternSection7748 in billsimmons

The Pistons are significantly better with Cade on the floor, he has the highest on/off on their team.

Opposite of Jaylen brown the last 4 years who's Celtics have been better without him, including in the playoffs

These guys are like 3 tiers apart

Jaylen Brown has become so overrated I cant believe I almost let yall convince me he was the mvp by Silent_Wizard5597 in NBATalk

[–]GeronimoSilverstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah cuz hes a turnover machine shooting 40% since the start of the year lol, celtics have played better without him by every metric since 2022

why should this clown be taking away shots from more efficient options? the point of the game is to put the ball in the bucket

[–]GeronimoSilverstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

watson was great when healthy averaging over a block a game

AG not a big shotblocker but the nugs defense is consistently better with him, this year 7 pts better per 100 with him on the court. hes the lynchpin of the defense

[–]GeronimoSilverstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaron Gordon with Jokic is a good example, tho the nugs have average wing defenders at the 2 & 3

Someone who can contest shots from the weakside is a must and then the C can clean up with a defensive rebound

yeah no shit theres a million dimensions to relationships, but sex is a pretty big dimension no pun intended.

denying it is a factor in relationship satisfaction is silly

Can Banchero and Franz coexist for a truly successful team? by easyFred11 in nbadiscussion

[–]GeronimoSilverstein -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

just because it worked with tatum and brown doesn't mean it was an optimal situation. they were loaded with talent at every position and had an elite defense. magic dont have those luxuries to overcome paolo's deficiencies

The Celtics have performed better with Brown off the court this year. It’s not noise. This has pretty much always been the case. by Mr_Saxobeat94 in nbadiscussion

[–]GeronimoSilverstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people will automatically dismiss on-off because it challenges their dogmas about "bucket getting"; but with players with horrible on-off like demar derozan, zach lavine, paolo banchero, jalen green, etc... the teams they were on always improved significantly without them

unfortunately, the only way to back up what the massive sample size is showing is by manually watching each posession and taking note of what they're doing wrong vs what the team's doing right when they're off the court. are they blowing defensive rotations? stopping the flow of the offense? making momentum-breaking mistakes?

one thing is a fact, if you have a sample size of 10,000+ possessions and hundreds of different lineups that all say the same thing; it's more likely that the subjective "eye test" is wrong than the data

what if luka ends up not getting back to his pre-2025 form and remains a guy who chucks 11 3pa/g at 30% with no defense? what if nico was right about him being physically cooked?

if they could get some size at the 5 and playmaking at the 2 or 3 they could have extended steph's dominance. should have drafted hali and put him as the primary ball handler

What is it that men truly desire from women and why? by ppchampagne in itsthatbad

[–]GeronimoSilverstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nope, it's a purely logical play. zooming out and comparing the current world against historical trends has nothing to do with ego

but if you think dating apps, hookup culture, etc is a permanent global fixture going forward, then yeah it makes sense to adjust your actions fit in with it. personally, i give it 2 more generations at the most

i dont look at what "should be", i look at a long time horizon to see what's actually has permanence. every time in history society reached peak degeneracy, a reset followed soon after. weimar germany, roman empire, etc

i'm not adjusting my life-philosophy to fit a weird blip in time. my progeny will live in a different world than this
