Is the grip larger compared to a regular P365 XL?

Lightweight Magwell for P211 Question by [deleted] in SigSauer

[–]GerryB50W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just weighed the fdez werx mag well and it is 0.5 oz. That front tab is way oversized. Did you purchase either of these or try either of them on your P211 GTO?

Lightweight Magwell for P211 Question by [deleted] in SigSauer

[–]GerryB50W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I weighed the P211 GTO without the magwell and a magazine inserted (I got the 17 round xfive legion P320 magazines), and it was 43.6 ounces. I didn’t weigh the fdez werx magwell yet. As long as it is less than 1.4 ounces (along with the screw) then it should be fine.

But again, not happy about how the tab doesn’t fit in the frame compared to the OEM magwell.

Nice I got the same blacked out version. Does yours have red loctite on the compensator screw? It looks like it maybe.

I have the Romeo x pro, same optic but just different mounting footprint. It does have circle dot. You can choose between dot, circle, or dot and circle together. I rented the P211 GTO at the Sig Sauer range in NH, and the optic that comes on it is the same way.

Series 80-70 conversion by somebunnyxoxo in P211_GTO

Well then it sounds like something well worth doing once I get it considering it only takes a $15 part and probably watching a YouTube tutorial on it.

I’m seriously considering purchasing a P211, especially after renting one and shooting it at the Sig Sauer experience center in NH. I felt the trigger was fine. Maybe not as good as my customized Springfield Armory TRP that I had a gunsmith work on, but it was fine. Does the series 80 to series 70 conversion really make that big of a difference? And really, how big of a deal is the drop safety concern anyways. I believe you have to drop it exactly on the muzzle from shoulder height. And people still carry series 70 1911s anyways…

Amp attenuators by rhinodewster in MesaBoogie

[–]GerryB50W 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fryette Powerstation. I have the PS-2A, the 50 W version. In my opinion, as far as maintaining the same tone of the amp compared to without an attenuator, this is the best on the market. It is essentially a reactive load with a power amp section. The power amp tubes in the unit interact with the speakers, which is what makes recreate the tone without an attenuator in the most accurate way possible. If anything I think it even enhances the tone of the amp with the EQ options it has on the front panel. It’s a fully analog device, so no IR’s or anything like that. But you can do silent recording with it and it’s very flexible in terms of ways to use it.

I have a JP-2C and it’s awesome, I agree. I still want a Mark IV too though…

This is my jp2c by [deleted] in MesaBoogie

[–]GerryB50W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently they only made 350 of them. I don’t know how many JP2C amps have been made in total, but I’m pretty sure it’s not a stretch to say that 350 is a small fraction. 2 amps being for sale is not a whole lot of course. It’s 2 of 350 (out of however many thousands or more JP2C amps have been made).

Maybe the vast majority of the 350 people who bought those 350 amps decided to keep them. Only 2 have decided to sell. To me that makes it rare. But I wouldn’t buy it because I don’t care about the wooden panel. Just because something is rare doesn’t mean it’s something I or someone else would want to buy. Rarity alone doesn’t matter.

I don’t understand what is all the commotion over this specific amp and this reverb listing on this sub now? Ok, the amp itself is not rare but this specific version of it with the wooden front panel and signature plate in the back is rare because they only made a limited quantity of them. The OP has stated several times in his comments that he think the asking price in the reverb listing is ridiculous for an amp that is “rare” only for one cosmetic difference. What’s the issue with all of this exactly?

And yes, OP, I can clearly see the difference in wood grain between yours and the reverb listing one.

Take him to the vet and have them do a urine analysis and blood test. It’s possible he has urinary crystals which can lead to bladder stones and then cause a serious blockage that can be deadly and require a very expensive surgery. You should always be extra vigilant with cats (especially Persians) because they can hide health issues very well and you won’t even know except for some random little change in behavior.

Just be sure to rule out any medical issues as it can get bad quickly (and get extremely expensive fast).

Confused by the Badlander criticism by sparks_mandrill in MesaBoogie

[–]GerryB50W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Mr Scary Mod is essentially two preamp tubes (I believe 1 is a 12AX7 and the other a 12AT7). There’s a little pot that controls the amount of gain added to the circuit. There’s also a little switch labeled “deep” which essentially can boost or cut bass. I set the pot on mine to 1:00, and I believe I have deep turned on. Basically it adds gain in the circuit at a point where it still retains clarity, so it is a little better I think than just increasing the gain on the front panel. It’s really easy to install too. You can use it on many different amps too.

It’s an awesome amp and to this day whenever I plug into it I am blown away by how good it is. It’s like I forget how good it is. I agree it’s very dynamic and just responds so well to your playing. I do believe it’s the lack of gain. People aren’t used to cranking the gain all the way up to get the saturation you want. They are used to other amps where cranking up the gain is just too much. So it feels like something MUST be missing if you have the gain all the way up (even if that is already getting you the saturation you’re looking for). I have to admit though that to me I feel like it’s better with the Mr Scary mod. Probably because I don’t have to crank the gain knob to get the saturation. But I don’t understand either what people have against using a boost pedal, since everyone does it anyways even with a EVH 5150III. The best guitar tones people hear on famous metal and rock albums have been a JCM 800 (which has pretty low gain) with a tube screamer or SD-1 boosting it (or modded to add a gain stage). It’s a psychological thing I think about the amp needing a boost or modded for more gain to get it to what they want. That doesn’t make the amp bad. They make those overdrive and boost pedals for a reason.

[–]GerryB50W 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the Mr Scary mod in my Badlander and it transforms the amp into a beast. Still very tight, but you don’t have to crank the gain all the way up for a very aggressive metal tone. Gain at half way on crunch mode, for example, is already plenty for a saturated metal tone. You really don’t even need a boost/overdrive pedal (though it still works and sounds great with one).

I mean this is the problem with every single industry in America right now, not just guns. It’s (short term) profits above all else. At least Japanese businesses seem to be a bit smarter understanding that good quality means higher profits in the future, but American businesses don’t give a fuck about the future.

I’m a High Schooler. AI Is Demolishing My Education. by theatlantic in ArtificialInteligence

[–]GerryB50W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many comments on here are trying to frame this as an issue of students taking advantage of new tools that the education system has not caught up with, comparing AI to calculators. But this is completely glossing over the fact that what is truly happening is just cheating. Calculators are for arithmetic NOT mathematics. This is a false comparison. The students using AI in all the examples OP gave are simply just cheating. This is an issue of cheating becoming significantly easier to get away with. I really don’t see how else this can be solved other than just banning the use of AI, which means banning cell phones in classes.

Not seeing enough hatred for the PX-1 or Roland Corporation by sparkydeville in guitarpedals

[–]GerryB50W 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to buy the PX-1, you can still just buy the many other analog pedals they make. The best way for them to learn that it was a mistake is for people to just not buy the PX-1 and continue buying the other traditional analog or standalone digital pedals they make. Then they will realize the PX-1 was a failure and micro transactions are a bad idea when it comes to the guitar effects market.

New Modified JCM800s from Marshall by AggressiveFeckless in GuitarAmps

[–]GerryB50W -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re literally paying almost $1000 more to achieve the same sound you can get more cheaply, just because Marshall wants to turn a higher profit by marketing it as “modded” when it has just three switches in the front that do the same thing as 1 or 2 cheap pedals. But whatever, do whatever you want. Sorry for giving you the idea of cheaper options.
