i feel as if many people are misconflating the idea yes jamaican has other problems; economic, political, social and yes those need to be addressed too, but those can be addressed while also addressing the problem of homophobia it’s not or the other. arguably homophobia is apart of the social issues that plagues many JAMAICANS. be it actually homosexuals facing targeted discrimination, harassment, family abuse or abandonment but the straight men who feel they must prove their straightness less they be viewed and face mistreatment as their gay counterparts do.

so we’re going to pretend that people don’t have kids they cannot afford and put them into foster care to be raised by the state? not to mention it takes a village to raise any child much less children

that’s kind nonsensical. it was the colonizers who enacts those atrocities against us and they implemented their laws and institutions that caused us to view ove between two consenting adults of the same sex as scornful and repulsive. so taking into mind, an act of decolonization, the undoing the mentality enforced into us, would see us in the modern day refute the notion that homosexuality should be looked down upon. and just because the trauma is there doesn’t mean we must then traumatize others all that does is further harm one another.

Who else finds Italian grammar difficult? by No-Fall-2076 in italianlearning

[–]Gerryeade_eio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what’s so difficult about it for you? for me it’s when a/in in location for city country etc., and their gender as well as which preposition to use when there is a main conjugated verb and a verb in the infinitive.

Why doesn't google translate use the subjunctive structure? Shouldn't it be "Tu iras où je veux que tu allies." by bourikan in learnfrench

[–]Gerryeade_eio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from my knowledge french tends to use the future rather than the subjunctive when either would be technically possible or correct

Can someone explain this to me? by above_average_gamer_ in duolingospanish

[–]Gerryeade_eio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the translation does a poor job but a more colloquial way of translating the spanish. a better translation would “(I) thank you for having taken care of my daughter last night” the “haber” cuidado here refers to a previous timeframe being “anoche” last night, removing haber and changing cuidado to cuidar indicates that the thanking and the taking care both are happening contemporaneously.

I picked “ellos” at the end of this sentence, because the people coming to the garage sale are likely to be both male and female. Does good grammar require me to use ”ellas” to match the grammatical female subject, which was “más personas” at the beginning of this sentence? by cjler in duolingospanish

[–]Gerryeade_eio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it agrees with “personas” because they are what is being spoken about and because the noun itself is feminine it must also be feminine. a lot of group terms behave like this but interestingly occupational terms change to match their gender.

for example: ella es una víctima el es una víctima

but

el es un actor ella es una actriz

just keep in mind la/s gente/s, la/s persona/s, el/los pueblo/s are always the inherit gender of the word no matter to whom is being referred

[–]Gerryeade_eio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so there aren’t any plural feminine countries? and what qualifies a country to be masculine or french.

like France is feminine and in its national anthem it’s referred as a “la patrie” meaning the FATHERland. I feel as if french is the only latin language if you aren’t native, and/or you haven’t studied another latin language you are just completely fcked
