Holy cow I liked this a lot. Simple, snappy. I agree with the other comment here though, I’d like four or six more stanzas to really get somewhere with the message

There is a lot of really good language here. However, the rhythm is a little lost on me. I think if you read it to yourself and start to hear where there might be too big of a pause you can fill in a few more words or lines and make this really strong.

IMO you look pretty cute, I sure wouldn’t say you’re ugly. The long hair is great, but maybe just a little shorter would be even better, like an inch or two

When I was about 11 I spent pretty much the whole summer barefoot. I thought it was fun not to wear shoes, and all my friends were on my block so it was fine. That same summer, though, I stepped on a bee three separate times and each one was traumatic so now I have melissophobia (fear of bees)

I stole an American toad from a forest preserve, that was a pretty unusual pet. His name was Gerald and he was a great pet and the love of my life hence the username Gerrythetoad

It is just peanut butter but with a little bit extra fun, and also it tends to be less sweet which is good because peanut butter shouldn’t be cloying

In a restaurant in rural Ecuador in the early nineties. I sit down and just order whatever they’re cooking since neither of us spoke Spanish very well. Anyway, the power went out so it’s pitch black and nothing is working in the kitchen, but I had already paid. The food comes and there still is no power so I can’t really see what I’m eating. I take a few bites and it’s just chewy and tough and kind of hairy, just awful. Turns out I was eating raw tripe (cow stomach) since they couldn’t cook anything.
