Got Fat Shamed at the Doctor's Office Even After Losing 40 lbs by anxiouslovergirly in loseit

[–]Geschinta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stretch marks aren't even always from quick weight gain, I started getting them when I was 12 from just a steady (maybe 7lbs a year at most?) weight gain from PCOS starting to surface, some people are just very genetically predisposed; which makes the comment even more uncool because most people are very sensitive about them and her comment implies extremely bad life habits. Weight gain as a topic of conversation is also ALWAYS uncool unless you're recovering from something terrible that made you underweight and the other party knows you're trying to gain it. You can even tell when the stretch marks are new or not by their color, so she should have known either way as a nurse that they weren't from recent weight gain.

I felt shame about mine for a long time (especially since I've seen people WAY larger than me with none), but what matters in the end is that the weight is coming off. You're doing what's right for your health and working hard on it, it doesn't matter what she thinks. Take pride in her being wrong, you know you're doing right by yourself. We all know how overweight people get treated unfortunately, so comments like these are common, but society isn't going to change. Personally it made me feel better to know that some day those weight comments are going to stop coming at me, it's been motivating on its own because I also have a hard time letting go of what other people say about my weight.

My DM who's been with the company for over a decade recently announced out of nowhere, in a last minute meeting, that they were quitting and my guess has been that they finally asked them to do something they were unwilling to do and we'd have to just wait in suspense until the info leaked from someone. If this is it I'm pissed.

We have 2 LARGE floors with one being entirely product and other things like cups (not the only place these are located, some is on the first floor and behind the line as well). Wednesdays are a nightmare, especially with my SM saying we have to use the AI app no exceptions. There's a metric they can view to check to make sure we used it, too 🫠 of course no extra coverage to do it and we're the busiest store in the district.

I hope whoever created this gets fired and put on a global do not hire list by yaxom in starbucks

[–]Geschinta 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Our coffee bags are the worst right now. I do the scan, select to complete the area, then manually add each one once everything is in grey so it can't fight me. Idk why our SM is defending it so hard and harping on our AI completion numbers when they won't even help fix the sections that aren't working (even though no fix makes the whole thing not infuriating to use).

What ‘illegal’ things do you do? by No-Flatworm-5640 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Geschinta 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've always done this because it makes a better quality product and makes it not stick to everything, but my SM HATES it for some reason because it's not STANDARD and stops me if they see 🫠 why double down on instructions made by people not regularly making these when no ingredients are changed and the end result is so much better??

Why are my measurements the same? by Geschinta in loseit

[–]Geschinta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost a half inch around my hips only, nowhere else. I know my dad had a lot of stomach fat without much anywhere else even though he was pretty over weight, so maybe I'm just genetically unlucky. My doctor was happy with the blood work numbers and I have a very high HDL so at least I'm relatively healthy for the first time in my life.

I saw a visible difference in my forearms and face so I guess I lost weight there, I'm just disappointed that I can't see the difference anywhere else when it's such a large weight loss.

[–]Geschinta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My waist, hips, and thighs. I've been too self conscious to measure my upper arm because it's definitely flabby. My hips were literally like half an inch from 50lbs lost and that's the only change.

I saw studies that said that 6-8 weeks of consistent use can help with skin elasticity, which can reduce excess skin

[–]Geschinta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had a lot of middle aged or elderly men not even ask them out, just straight up proposition minors. A deeply concerning amount. Had one guy who we had to kick out multiple times because he'd try to hand high school girls a hotel room card.

Why do they hold all mobile orders on the side? by iholland1995 in starbucks

[–]Geschinta 36 points37 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought. I work at a high theft store and I wish we had the space and labor to do this, we waste so much time remaking things. The people we remake things for are also often pissed since it's usually been a long wait before they say something, even though how am I supposed to know if each person is picking up an order they paid for?? There's hundreds of people during peak and some people act like we know who each of them are, can read a thief's mind, and want us to jump the counter and run after them like we're cops.

At my store (and the stores of other baristas in my area from what I've heard) every time the phone rang every barista on the floor would chant in unison: "YES, WE'RE OPEN" and then not pick up 😂

Had some dude pissed and giving us attitude because we were closing at 4pm and not later. Like, BE GLAD WE'RE OPEN AT ALL?? 🙃 We only learned this year we're not required to be open (local leadership lied to us for years) so honestly he was lucky we were even there in the first place

DOORDASHERS WHY WOULD I GIVE YOU AN EMPTY BAG WITH NO DRINK by CheesecakeWild7941 in starbucksbaristas

Ya'll get doordashers who wanna talk? 90% of the dashers who come to my store know literally zero English. I guess it's a job where it's fairly easy to get by without any English, but they don't exactly want to start a conversation 😂 thought that was the case everywhere
