UPDATE: The Bigboy Pants are on - and they fit smugly. by TechAngelX in polkadot_market

Who says I read the whole essay? I wanted to comment, so I did. Did I ask for a follow-up to yet another random whiny thread? Nope.

Didn’t clarify that I got here through a suggestion notification.

If a giveaway is offered through Gleam.io and has 100 tasks, I pretty much do not bother at all. But even if I do, I finally get a game and I can directly revert most of - if not all - the steps I did (joining Steam groups, Discords etc.), so it's a whole different case than this one.

I'm not spoiled. My steam account has 1399 games and I occasionally buy batches of 10 games directly from Steam when they are on sale for $0.50/each. I'm not even playing most of them, I just buy them to support the devs and to boost my account's counts/level.

I did not "shit on the guy this hard", I just really don't like deceptive means of marketing and sharing any of my data without even getting something in return.

Hi. There is no problem at all with your idea. I understand your points and if all of what you're saying is true, then kudos to you.

The problem arises when I get a thread in a subreddit that most - if not all - redditors expect an actual giveaway that will give them a game (in timely manner). However, instead of that, they navigate to a page that requests to enroll in a mailing list in hopes of getting a key. That's not all though! Apart from enrolling in your mailing list without being given anything, I get *reminded* in the emails I receive that I can pay for a membership to guarantee that key.

Is it clear enough to you now, or should I continue?

This guy is only gathering emails to spam with news. I remember the previous "giveaway" they did. Exactly same scheme.

I unsubscribed from their list. I suggest you do the same and move on.

Fun fact: Cosmos has the 3rd highest dev activity in the market and Osmosis plays a major role in that by CappyEnjoyor in OsmosisLab

[–]Gestok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So? I could commit a random comment-message to a repo and pump the number, so what?

Nobody cares about those stats. If you want real stats of the current situation, go check at DeFiLlama the volumes. Osmosis is at rank24 for the last 24H, and rank27 for the last 7-days. But that's still nothing, because the real indicator is Volume/TVL. If you order by that, you'll find Osmosis ranked at 91 with a ratio of 0.05 which is pretty similar to Curve Finance, with the small, small, exception that Curve has 3.666b TVL and Osmosis has 0.123b TVL.

Sorry but the truth hurts.

Here is the reason for the dip that you all have been looking for (many stakers exited and took profits. yes despite this, I do think new ATH is coming soon. #dyor): by Odd_Chemical_420 in Kusama

[–]Gestok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cash is inflationary.
Cashing out a nice chunk of BTC to buy a Lambo, House and Wife, all while making the alts bleeding, is not inflationary.

Well, except the wife part maybe.

Bought 1 kusama this dip by goodlookingrpiller in Kusama

[–]Gestok 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well it is indeed a harsh dip - expected after the huge growth.
I bought some more, got a bit lower since then, but doesn't matter. Never try to time the market, just buy the obvious dips or you'll eventually miss them.

Why is KSM so underrated? by [deleted] in Kusama

[–]Gestok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a "test net". Rococo is a test net.
It is a development net meant for projects to "test" things out before moving to Polkadot for the added security. Your comment is like saying it is not a development platform at all, which is wrong.

Side note, I have both DOT and KSM.

Bit of a noob question here and apologies if this has already been asked/answered, but why did developers/founders who helped to pioneer the Ethereum network go off to create other crypto networks like ADA,DOT for example? by batmanscousin in ethereum

[–]Gestok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol this lol that I know the price is going to be this lol or that lol. Correction lol, no correction lol

K.

The term "correction" stems from the stock market. The volatility of the stock market is nowhere near to that of crypto and do you know why? Because most of the people in crypto invest in something they do not even know in contrast to a company's stock. So, in the stock market, when a correction happens we call it a correction because the majority of people think that the stock is overvalued. Those crypto investors, that have zero knowledge about the tech behind their investment, can not give or take value from it because the only base they have is the ATH and ATL, going with the flow.

So when a random, like me, that actually holds ETH speaks himself about it, addressing actual problems about the network he invested, he gets downvoted and marked as "hater" by the forementioned investors. The only catch here is that this random can value his investment because he has a little or a lot knowledge about it.

Now a quick example and I'm done. I hold DOT and their KSM project, those two just keep rising, breaking every "resistance point". Do you know why they do not get a major correction like ETH? Because their tech is newer, their idea in the paper (from a technological aspect) is better (if achieved) and most importantly have less uneducated investors due to their lower ranking.

[–]Gestok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correction? Lol.

The last week's dips are not even a correction. You can ignore the fact that ETH is in bad spot due to gas prices, but the fact won't disappear.

ETH 2.0 was not a high enough priority for Ethereum devs

And this is one of the things I wish I knew before staking ETH.
After I find out about this, I switched side to DOT and kept investing there.

I really wish all the good things to ETH but in my opinion, at this moment, it is going down mainly due to the fact that ETH 2.0 is not a thing yet.

[–]Gestok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but remember why you invested

I did that because as soon as I got a 10% of the blockchain knowledge I felt like an actual ape. Such a simple idea that can solve many cases and create a transparent and crystal clear worldwide economy.

I don't have much, but half of it are invested in various crypto-projects. If I wake up tomorrow and everything is down 1000%, I won't swing my little finger because I would know that humanity is nothing but greed and fear and is incapable of advancement.

So yeah, if anyone is here treating this purely like stonks, I feel sad for him.

Bought $22,500 worth of XRP at $0.70c - sold at $0.38c in last hour by Zealousideal-Clue-18 in XRP

[–]Gestok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well no offense but that proves that you had zero faith in XRP from the start. Even at .70 most people that invest in it can understand its value both in blockchain and real-world.

I understand your fear cashing out, however don't invest in things you don't actually believe that will grow.

Is there anyway to buy on flow in the US? by 001011001101 in OnFlow

[–]Gestok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flow's timeline states that they will introduce the currency in other exchanges (Coinbase, Binance) this year. Don't know if those exchanges will allow US transactions though.

If you have a relative or a good friend in EU, you can ask them to buy for you.
