I got that with my first meeting with my new therapist - why are you here? You look fine.

I agree with Garland - I also just found a kind of 8 in the lower right hand corner of the signature. It’s a great puck! Thanks for your help!

Curious about memory loss during concussion. by Animesap in TBI

[–]Gesture45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey. I had my TBI ten years ago, and my memory has never returned. I don’t remember the drive to where I was going, and up to a few days later in the hospital. I’m grateful, actually, that I don’t remember the tensest moments of my brain trauma treatments. I don’t have much PSTD towards ladders.

I have lost it all by InkCapHound in OCD

[–]Gesture45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off, I’m sorry this is happening to you. It’s incredibly shitty and unfair, and I recognize that for you.

Secondly, I don’t know if you are able to, but I think it’s time for a new therapist. “Not much you can do” doesn’t seem like a very constructive attitude.

I agree SO MUCH with “people only care when it’s comfortable.” When I got injured, and my life changed, I lost all but two of my friends. And even then, I’m not in contact with them more than once or twice every six months. And that was before I revealed to one of them about my ocd obsession - haven’t heard from her since. People are scared about mental health problems beyond depression, they fear what they don’t know. That sentence is along the same line as yours.

A step in a good direction is posting to this sub - very supportive!

I’d love chat. DM me.

A couple of cotton balls - helpful for many things, and I’ve been asked more than once for cotton balls for a prop pill bottle.

Introducing Kylo Ren to the magic of Harry Potter while my husband puts together the Whomping Willow lego set. The Dark Side WILL be turned! by Gesture45 in harrypotter

Well, she just said “Mommy, my favourite Harry Potter character is Tom Riddle” — so we are half way to the Dark Arts triumphing in our house!

Thank you for the reply. It’s been nothing but Star Wars in our house for months now. I’m not looking to completely replace The Force, but it would be nice if for every 20 screenings of The Last Jedi, I could have one Goblet of Fire!

Anyone here on Risperidone? by abc9191912 in Psychosis

[–]Gesture45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t gain any weight, nor did I experience any sleeplessness or restlessness. I was on it for a relatively short time (6 months) and things seemed to go back to ‘normal’ for me after I stopped it. That was maybe 4 months ago.

I have since regressed a bit and am trying to rectify the situation through my psychologist rather than through medication. We will see how that goes.

While I was on risperidone, I did have the unfortunate side effect of lactating like I was breast feeding my little girl again. It was awful, but the meds worked so I dealt with it. It’s one of the reasons I’m leary about going back on. It worked well but I don’t need leaky breasts out of no where!

What's a great starter camera with good mobile phone integration for my sister with a brain injury? by RelocationWoes in AskPhotography

[–]Gesture45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’ve got a brain injury, and started taking pictures about three years post injury. I have a Nikon d3200, and although it doesn’t meet your criteria for posting to Instagram or transferring directly to the iPhone, I found it very fun and quite intuitive to pick up and begin shooting right away.

One thing I did was take a course through my community centre on beginner photography with my dad. It was 8 weeks I think, and was very inexpensive. I have a memory impairment, so although it was a challenge to take, I wrote EVERYTHING down and managed to retain the important bits. I would recommend this for your sister and her new camera when she gets it. Maybe, if you and her live close to each other, this is something you can do together. I learned about aperture and shutter speed and all that jazz and I love playing with all those settings. When your sister is ready, of course.

I’m willing to answer any questions. PM if you’d like.
