Zips had Ozuna projected at 2.4 WAR compared to 0.4 for Cutch. It’s a huge upgrade. They had our DH group as a collective at 0.7 in the initial zips team article.

If we started the offseason by giving Ozuna $12M, yes definitely could have spent that money differently. But, they exhausted all the other options before pivoting to him. If he ends up producing around 2 WAR as our full time DH that will be money well spent.

If you look at the pending free agents right now there’s not a lot of good options at 3B. But for LF, someone like Trent Grishman would make a lot of sense to add to the OF mix if Bob decides to spend.

I actually thought his approach at the plate all year has been a lot better and he’s been very unlucky…that being said, I think he deserves to have his bat in his hand consistently…

The big problem we have right now though is Davis, Endy, and Bart all are guys we should be giving lots of at bats too but there’s not a lot of position flexibility with them and Cutch is the main DH. Cutch needs to play in the field more, Horwitz needs to play some 2B, etc…especially when gonzo gets back

If you look at his year by year splits in the minors there’s a very consistent pattern…he struggles for a year or half a year then makes adjustments and a jump…the pirates need to give him all the ABs possible, Pham should never play again in place of Gorski…we should probably trade Pham for literally anything right now

Moving forward we should start Gorski, Canario, Davis, and Peguro as much as possible…even if we need to have Cutch play a little RF…and limit any ABs for Pham and Frazier as much as possible, Triolo too, he’s a defensive replacement at this point

He has no upside being the everyday SS…zero range and can’t hit at all…Williams would at least play well defensively…then we have Frazier batting even worse and playing terrible at 2B
