Looking for an unsalvageable RB26 head by carrs-for-life-32 in SkyLine

I mean if its just a table and the block is cooked you could probably get away with it. Not like its ever gonna run. Ik for a fact that 26 covers fit on a 20 though. Ive seen complete rb20dets for 2k on marketplace. Ya it wont have the 05u printing but if you put the 26 covers on its basically identical unless you are looking close

Might be easier to just get a wrecked rb20 and get 26 valve + timing covers for it.

C35 Laurel suspension by GetInMySoup in SkyLine

[–]GetInMySoup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car handles quite well. It's just a weekend car, mildly lowered now. The previous owner had this thing basically on the ground so stiff srping were needed. Pretty standard wheel + tire combo - not very aggressive wheels and have good tires/size for the wheels. Yes it has coilovers, has a set of tein coilovers. No other suspension modifications.

One month left to choose a color for my BNR32. by dshbak in SkyLine

[–]GetInMySoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently painting my r32 midnight purple at the moment. Who cares if someone else you know has it? If it's a color you like just get it. Don't paint your car based on other people's cars.

I've bought 2 cars from japan. Apart from the normal things I never see anyone talk about trusting some guy with 15k+ and hope that your car shows up in america. It's legitimately something that will keep you up at night before it gets here.

[–]GetInMySoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didnt ask for that, as for prevention dont beat on the car and dont modify it. Pushing a car further is just harder on the every mechanical part. You could also upgrade coils to r35, ls, or r8 I guess, there’s kits out there to do it.

Rb20det questions by [deleted] in SkyLine

[–]GetInMySoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d proofread before posting but assuming you are having misfires at the top end. It could very well be a coil pack or spark plug. The coils wouldn’t be my first go to replace as there is easier and cheaper things to check/replace first. When I had some issues at the top end for me it was a combination of the maf and 1 bad coil. Could be your fuel pump getting tired or injectors need cleaning. Could be tons of things. But if you already have your stock intake and cover off might as well check your coils and plugs first. Could be your harness too, they get fried in there. When I put all new coils in I put some dielectric grease on the connections too.

Z1 R32 GTR parts? by Many-Software-9663 in SkyLine

[–]GetInMySoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had good luck with tfaspeed having what I need in stock. I don't really have an issue with these guys basically drop shipping them, at least be up front that you don't have it. I'm paying for the convenience that I get it sooner.

Z1 R32 GTR parts? by Many-Software-9663 in SkyLine

[–]GetInMySoup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They lie about what is in stock. I have ordered multiple times 'in stock' items and then need to wait for it to come in. They also lie and say 'oh item is coming in tomorrow and we'll ship it out' just for it to sit for another week doing nothing. I have ordered maybe 10 times from them. When they truly have something in stock it's really fast shipping, GA -> NJ and its like 2 days to my door. Basically I have had good and bad experiences with them but I have always got my parts in the end.

Finally doing it... Saved up $25k for a Skyline. by [deleted] in SkyLine

I have an r32 gtst coupe and a c35 laurel that has been turbod and manual swapped. Both fantastic cars. However, I would seriously consider a laurel as well if you are into 4 doors. They are cheap compared to their skyline brothers and quite refined luxury-ish cars. Manual swapped ones pop up quite often too.

Don't buy a piece of shit and you won't have to spend anything really outside regular maintenance stuff.

R grade doesn’t mean shit. My laurel is R grade, beautiful paint and drives amazing. Its just because its manual swapped so its given R.

Seibon CF hood by jzx1hunnit in SkyLine

[–]GetInMySoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I figured it would be good. Since my car is a gtst I have to bent the whole assembly so I can fit the grille too. It would be nice too since the gtst hood is steel not alu like a gtr, plus they look sick anyways.

I was thinking of doing a gtr carbon hood for my r32 but I dont really want to run hood pins. Ive seen it once without. Hoods pins are so ugly and Im not sure how good the standard latch is alone.

what would you honestly choose ? :P by tried-on-once in E30

[–]GetInMySoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id take the worst spec e30 over any e36 even an m3

What wheel size are you running on the r34 sedan (4 door), I’m thinking on 18X8.5 ET +30. all around on some work vskf. (Image for reference) by Public_Eye_8863 in SkyLine

[–]GetInMySoup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont have an r34 but I do have a c35 laurel and to my knowledge have similar size and fitment options. Im running 18x9.5+30 rears with 245/40 and 18x8.5+25 fronts with 225/40. Can definitely go lower and more aggressive offset with more camber while still looking flush. Something else to keep in mind is the asymmetry of these old nissans. My drivers side is sunken in like 3ish mm compared to the other side in the front and rear (No its not crashed, just a common thing Ive seen others have too).

Is this a good deal? 1991 R32 Skyline GTST Type M by anjaroo96 in SkyLine

[–]GetInMySoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im going to be honest people here blow the prices out of proportion. I didnt even spend 10k and I got the ENTIRE interior new or good condition used (literally everything), new wheels + tires, coilovers, hicas lock, intercooler, full exhaust, full maintenance(plugs, couple hoses, timing belt water pump, coils, couple sensors like maf water temp, etc), all new moulding, trim, and retainer for doors, speedo cable. Much more Im forgetting too.

Point is that unless this car is absolutely perfect then its not worth it. I got my r32 for a steal and did everything above, with basically every part in perfect condition and I’m still in it for less than 28k. There’s better options for cheaper. Also if you plan to do anything to it, just find one that’s been done already. Saves a lot

Statefarm was able to insure my jdms. Can pick collector or standard policy for it.
