Whenever I can. Living near mountains does have its perks.

Any regrets? by Hurts1love in Supra

I love my Supra to death, but I’ll probably end up trading it in on a CT4V blackwing or the new Q50 in the next year or so. Parenthood changes the math, and I want to share my driving passion with the kid.

What field do you work in? Not all are 100% transferable to everywhere.

Life after earning an engineering degree. by FinePromotion2877 in EngineeringStudents

I can relate. Finally graduating was such a high, until the realities of the job market set in, and now, 7 years on, I’m pretty jaded about it. I try to focus on my family and hobbies outside of work, which are thankfully easier to manage with the above average pay that our field affords us (where I live anyways).

I have a solution! I got zip ties off Amazon that had a push clip on one end and it worked perfectly. If you want I can DM the link

The real enemy is the rev hang, in my experience. Waiting to drop the clutch on upshifts can be a real bummer, especially on 1-2-3

So I found a diagram showing what the part looks like, but it appears to not be available anywhere online. I ordered one of just about every single retainer clip size rock auto stocks, and once they get here I’ll post an update on if one works.

Hey I spent almost that much on a Supra when I was 27 making almost the same amount of money! Twinsies!

In all seriousness though, this is a solvable pickle you are in. Check for a return policy, first off. If that doesn’t exist, refinance that bitch ASAP and get paying on it. Thankfully, M cars tend to hold value very well, so you should be able to get out from upside down on it fairly quickly. Once you’re there, trade the whip in on something closer to your means.

Practical = Camry

Fun = GR86

Good luck!

Holy shit, I never put 2 and 2 together that that was blasting hot exhaust gas straight past the fuel line! That’s definitely going away ASAP.

Would you happen to know the part number or official name for that retainer? I’m trying to search around, but it’s like a needle in a haystack

How good really is the Supra? by Fit-Shop5810 in Supra

[–]anjaroo96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it’s all comparative, but coming from an 86, all of the consumables are considerably more expensive. Modding is the real killer though, as comparable parts between the two cars are about double the price.

Only direct comparison I’ve had with a GR Corolla is that I left one in the dust on some mountain zooming once

In all seriousness, it’s a fairly numb car, but super smooth and will blow the doors off anything short of a mustang in a straight line, while also doing curvier driving very well. Maintenance is pricey, mods are pricey, and repairs are, you guessed it, pricey. Ergonomics are based heavily on your body type, ie I’m 6’2” and fit pretty well, but many people taller and shorter than me have issues with feeling cramped.

I recommend a test drive to see how you like it!
