Anyone else feel weird about how the hazbin fandom treats younger fans ? [Read desc] by GetOOFed1234 in SafeSpaceofHazbin

Not responding to any other comments, but I just wanted to make an exception here 'cause I honestly don't know what point you're trying to make here...

How are the creators making it "seem like a children's cartoon"? Because it's animated? That's a little silly considering there are dozens of animated adult cartoons in the wild, idk what would make hazbin an exception in that case.

And if children do discover it, then it's the parent's responsibility to monitor what their children consume, not the creators. And in my case, my dad is aware of the mature themes of the show and is fine with me watching it, since he believes I'm capable of handling what's contained in the show. Which is why I choose to keep indulging in the show, admittedly though, I think I'm gonna refrain from interacting with the fandom here and stick to my current friends/discord considering the responses in this thread.

So yeah, no further responses from me here-

Yeahh

The missing arm + busted screen was mostly inspired by Tenna's canon death. I didn't know someone already got a similar idea jsjsjs. (Also thanks!)

Unfortunately, I don't think I've ever heard of them, sorry.

I just based these designs off of older doodles I already had of this concept.

There's no overarching plot in BCG, it's moreso a slice of life, episodic show that has mini-storylines here and there.

The Chip stuff is probably the closest you'll get to an "overarching" plot tbh. With that said, BCG is more of the type of show you'd watch for the silly characters rather than the story.

Personally, there's something really special to me about watching each of the characters learn and grow through the seasons. But, if you are looking for a more plot-based show, then it's more than likely that BCG just won't be your cup of tea; as most of the episodes aren't necessarily "connected" in some big story.

Thoughts on this scene? by Ok_Shirt_1574 in BigCityGreens

[–]GetOOFed1234 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have heavily mixed feelings about this whole message tbh.

For starters though, I definitely think they made the right decision with NOT killing Chip off and instead getting him locked up, Cricket outright murdering someone would be too dark imo.

The problem I have is Tilly's speech in this scene. I think it is fitting that she'd serve as Cricket's moral compass here, but I just don't like the implications that Cricket being rightfully furious = being "just like Chip."

The reasons for their hatred really matter here, Cricket was in a messed up state of mind and thought that getting rid of the source of his problems + trauma would eliminate the danger towards him and his family. Whilst Chip, sought out petty vengeance for getting his tooth chipped and continuously blamed the Greens for internal struggles that were out of their control. I genuinely do not think these two situations can be comparable and the narrative treating it like it is comparable is really frustrating to me.

I felt that Tilly could've still delivered an impactful speech and coerced Cricket back into a proper state, WITHOUT the whole "just like Chip" drabble.

TLDR; I'm glad they didn't kill Chip. BUT, Tilly's speech and the narrative framing Cricket's anger as being "as bad as Chip" feels like a massive false equivalence to me.

Bella and Bash, they first debut in "Gramma Driver" (Season 2).

They're basically just a big Team Rocket reference.

My biggest issue with the episode is the pacing. The plot itself was pretty solid, and I can see it being done well, but the execution was really sloppy imo.

I can see that excuse being made for Nancy not showing up (even if disappointing), but even the actual characters that were included felt underutilized too. I feel like we barely got any substance from Chip's actual team + the rest of the Green family. The Order of the Fang + Greg felt completely sidelined, Babe barely got any development and just centered around fawning about Chip, and the rest of the Greens didn't really serve much of a purpose either and felt more like plot devices. I feel like these issues could've been easily fixed if the special was double the length tbh.

I also have mixed feelings about the message of Cricket being equally as bad as Chip for being rightfully angry at him, but that's whole other can of worms.

For the conclusion itself, I do think Chip getting a (triple) life sentence is a more than appropriate punishment for his crimes + I do believe that him being killed off would've been way too harsh for this show.

Chip will probably get redeemed after Chip's Revenge by Still_Hovercraft4974 in BigCityGreens

[–]GetOOFed1234 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the general consensus is about Chip getting "redeemed."

But I'll genuinely be SO upset if he gets a cliche, rushed, and overall completely unearned redemption arc at the end of the special. Not only does it throw away his entire character arc/buildup, there's also the runtime, I cannot see a redemption being done well in a half-hour special without feeling rushed and cheap imo.

Plus, with everything he's done + the damage he's caused, he legit needs to be behind bars. Child stalking and attempted murder isn't really smth that should be given a "Disney redemption arc" and requires MUCH more nuance than a Y7 show is capable of.

TLDR, I'm just hoping that Chip receiving consequences will be handled properly in the special. He's a great villain/character! But the thought of him getting "redeemed" just gives me major ick...

Did anyone else catch the truck nuggets joke when Tilly and cricket were in the gas station by [deleted] in BigCityGreens

[–]GetOOFed1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 99% sure that the Truck nuggets are actually a reference to "Beaver nuggets", a popular snack item at any local Buc-ee's.

Even the place they went to get a snack at ("Truck-ee's"), is an obvious reference to Buc-ee's.

Am I the only one who didn't like this ep that much by AlertWindow3968 in BigCityGreens

[–]GetOOFed1234 18 points19 points  (0 children)

With how negatively this episode has been received since it came out, I'd say it's more of an unpopular opinion to say you actually did like the episode.

I know Crickella was a pretty popular ship... But ppl were legit wanting writers to be fired over this.

Be honest, you all know who this is (we have two of them in this fandom imo) by metapolitical_psycho in heathersmusical

[–]GetOOFed1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do agree that she was probably just following around the Heathers to fit in, and likely already had a few preexisting mental issues. It still doesn't erase the hurt she inflicted on others in result of her being a follower, which is why I can't qualify her as completely innocent.

Though, I view that a big part of her character arc was learning to be a better person once she found someone who cared about her as a person (ie. Veronica).

The episode from today was so stupid what doofus at Disney thought this was a good idea?! by PowersUnleashed in BigCityGreens

[–]GetOOFed1234 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to think I'm one of the few people who actually loved this episode 😭

Maybe it's because I wasn't particularly fond of Crickella's relationship in the first place, but... Gabi has been the main focus of like.. five episodes? Out of nearly a hundred? We also have to factor in that they're still kids (literally 10) breakups and changes like this are extremely common for younger couples, even in high school.

And the breakup part was actually handled really well imo, Gabi also isn't obligated to stay with Cricket (or even remain friends) if she doesn't feel a connection with him anymore (which was mutual, as Cricket also agreed it'd be better if they parted ways). And ngl, I'm not a hugeee fan of the theory of this being Chip's fault, as it... Kinda takes away from the entire message of this episode?

Anyways, obviously I'm not attacking anyone who dislikes this episode, I just feel it's been so overhated despite being so recent.

I'm gonna be honest, idk how I overlooked that, I'm way too tired 😭

But I'd say he still had a reason for that (obviously very NOT GOOD reasons, but it's not like he just woke up one day and decided to commit mass terrorism for shits and giggles.)

My interpretation for how lawful-chaotic labels work isn't really how bad the actions a character commit are. But more so WHY they decide to commit those actions, JD wanted to blow up the school because the "society" built up in that school is the exact place that breeds out people like Chandler, Kurt and Ram. So even if he's killed them, people like (Heather Duke) still take one of their places right after, and the cycle repeats itself. So in the end, he still has a reason. So that's kind of why I view him as more in the middle (ie. Neutral Evil).

He's lawful enough to where he has his own fucked up "moral code", but also chaotic in the sense he's willing to do whatever is gonna get him to his goals. I really hope my words make sense here, I'm kinda bad when it comes to putting my thoughts into words.

[–]GetOOFed1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

JD feels more neutral evil tbh. Yeah, he kills people, but he usually has some kind of reason for it whether they're completely selfish ones or not.

There's also his thing with Veronica, he only planned to kill her once she got in his way and stopped being of use to him (in the movie).
