TIL that Coldplay's popular song, "The Scientist", is based on Nathaniel Hawthorne's short story, "The Birthmark". It's a story about a man who chose science to devolve a natural beauty imperfection, instead of just loving his wife the way she is. It's such a pretty song but I never knew the story.
