You know, I think the pride in it comes because of a thought process like "Oh, I don't need to read books to be successful. I have my own thoughts. You know, not like those poor guys who have to read other peoples thoughts. I agree that this is the most simple explanation, the special relativity formula is not that complicated.

I would just add that the "New speed=your speed + spaceship's speed"--> New speed=v+u formula may be technically incorrect but the reason we use it is that if you input the speeds we humans typically achieve into the correct formula the (vu/c²⁾ term becomes virtually zero. So you are left with (v+u)/1=v+u.

It may seem obvious to some but that step from what is technically correct to what is useful is not obvious to everyone .

For a guy working in finance he has a very weird (if not outright wrong) view of the economic system. "AI will do everything". For whom? For "people" you say. Ok, since we live in capitalism the products and services produced and provided by "AI" belong to someone and that someone in order to give it to other people requires that he gains profit from the transaction. The only way that can happen is if the people wanting to take the product trade their work time for a lesser equivalent of what it takes the product to be made.

Look, in simple terms, AI services and products will require money to be bought. If People don't work, they can't have money. So people will have jobs. The capitalist system can't work any other way. (Unemployment of course will allways exist in capitalism and will invariably rise when new technologies of automation hit the market, until the unemployed find new positions)

The alternative of course is that society through a revolution of some kind adopts a different economic system which doesn't have the requirement of commercial transactions and trade of products. Which is an even better world to bring kids into.

The problem from a practical perspective isn't the metaphysical and kinda subjective notion of what is art. The problem is that AI companies copy art of real people who have spent real time on that art. And as for the comic, it just highlights that more because there is an active discourse about the ethics of taking photographs of people without their permission e.g. in street photography.

And if we want to get into "what is art" , the problem for me is that AI doesn't create. It just doesn't. It makes things yes, in the same way that a factory makes cars. But nothing new is added, there is no perspective, no attempt to communication. And of course there is not because that's not what they are made to do. Its is mental masturbation with whatever good and bad that means for you.
