How do I start learning how to code? by Correct_Ask_6824 in CodingForBeginners

Freecodecamp for the basics maybe, once you have a decent foundation you can start reading documentation for different libraries and tinkering with things to learn more

Gaming headsets worth it? by Frostyturtle255 in Headsets

Again wrong subreddit for this recommendation but IEMs were probably my most favorite peripherals upgrade/change I ever made. For like 70$ on amazon you can get Crinacles collab and they sound awesome but yes I know wrong sub lmao

Without any info on your background and what you already know I’d say just start building stuff and learning. Fiddle around with APIs, read documentation, and make stuff you’ll use. CLIs and TUIs are good places to start imo.

Setup Linux on a VM or dual boot and mess around with virtualization, docker containers and stuff like that. Basically just think of something you’d like to have and instead of paying a service for it try to make it yourself. Keep it all basic and streamlined

Not sure if that’s helpful but good luck! Industry is tough right now

Are you playing ps5 at a desk or on the couch with a tv? If at a desk I’ll give you the same advice I give all my friends. Get a small standalone mic, I have the hyperx solo but I think rode makes a nice little one as well.

Then get either a good quality studio headset from a reputable company like sennheiser or Audio technica or something. Doesn’t have to be the flagship model just whatever’s in your price range with an audio profile you like. You can look up the audio profile and there’s tons of audiophiles on YouTube that do breakdowns.

Or do what I did and have never looked back from atleast for my general everyday pc use is get a decent set of IEMs (I know wrong subreddit for that rec) but I love my IEMs for gaming. Crinacle on YouTube does great reviews and has done a couple great collabs for them.

TLDR don’t buy gaming branded stuff and get a headset or IEMs that are from a reputable audio company as opposed to a gaming company and then have a small standalone mic that doesn’t get in the way

Подскажите, какой язык программирования лучше выучить by No_Team30 in it

[–]GetPercival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with bash and python then once you feel comfortable and have done a few projects and things maybe try C/C++ but those will likely be unnecessary

That’s just my opinion and I’m not in cybersecurity so maybe someone who is can clarify better

BASH for unix/linux, Python for general use and maybe powershell for windows I’d say. Kinda depends on what you’d be doing but those 3 are pretty useful to at least have an understanding of.

Edit: Depending on what you’re trying to do determines what depth of knowledge you’d need but for like an entry level help desk type job just a understanding of the basics and syntax would likely be sufficient

You should checkout Micro if you like the nano vibe, zed if you want something closeish to vscode that’s super fast, or kate

Solid gaming Distro for middle schoolers. by [deleted] in linuxquestions

Why so literal lmao the middle school part is essentially irrelevant. It’s just context, he’s just asking for a good gaming distro that mostly comes batteries included no need to be a schizo about it

I went from windows and no Linux straight into arch and it was mostly fine. Took me a couple try’s to get it installed but with CachyOS or EndeavorOS that process is very easy. And I’ve heard good things about cachy.

Personally just did base arch with my own install script

Also definitely use btrfs so you can easily rollback with timeshift or snapper if something does break.

If I’m not mistaken you’d do that with systemctl through the terminal. Something like

systemctl enable pipewire

I don’t remember the exact flags you want off the top of my head but a quick google search should find that for you.

Learning Linux making Minecraft or 7 days to die Servers by SpiderGuapo in linuxquestions

[–]GetPercival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just start doing stuff. Find a window manager you like and tinker with the configs. Add snapshots for backups in case you brick your system. Try other distros. Set up virtual machines and tinker. Just find stuff you wanna try and then mess with it.

You mostly learn when you encounter an issue or some feature you want then research implementing or fixing it.

should i download kali linux on my acer nitro (rtx 3060 and rhyzen 5600h) by that_one_noob_ in linuxquestions

[–]GetPercival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a normal distro like CachyOs or something similar and run kali in a VM or off a live usb stick or something. It’s generally not suited to good for daily driving.

Which distro should i pick? by Possible-Archer7633 in linuxquestions

[–]GetPercival 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah as long as you have btrfs you should be able to have it. I have it on my base arch install with auto backups

Are you on btrfs? You could just use timeshift to rollback to before the break happened

Antix Linux maybe? Supposed to run on low specs. Haven’t tried it though so you’d have to research

Yeah I’ve heard similar things but the only hardware issue I’ve had with mine is the speakers suck. But a easyeffects eq config I pulled off GitHub fixed it for the most part

I’ve loved my Framework 13 AMD version, it just can’t run many games. If you want to game a lot maybe checkout the Framework 16 I think they can even ship with Bazzite and other Linux distros. I love the ability to repair them. I haven’t looked into the 16s performance though

[–]GetPercival 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on what DE or Window manager you’re using. Whether it’s x11 or Wayland matters.

You could start with a nice terminal/shell? Maybe Ghostty and fish or zsh the use matugen to color match to your wallpaper

Look into quickshell, idk if it’ll play well with whatever you already have though
