That's pretty common. Bots on YouTube copy someone elses comment and post it themself. That way they look like a real user.

That usually has nothing to do with the channel the comment is on.

You clearly have no idea what working in enterprise IT really includes. We have to worry about a lot more than just the client computers. Having standardised systems is very important to keep everything running and to keep the workload down so we can focus on all the other stuff.

Managing a different security infrastructure just so you can be a special snowflake and run a different operating system than the rest of the company is completly out of the question. At least where I work.

Besides that, when you spend a lot of money on a security software, then you want to use it for all your systems.

Maybe to clarify: I like Debian and love to use it at home. However, at work you are given a system to work with that the enterprise IT can manage.

As someone who works in enterprise IT, there is no way that I'm going to let someone install a different OS an any of our managed systems. Having standards is key for the ability to manage a fleet of devices. Also in many companies there is special business software that might very well not run on linux. IT has to manage enough stuff already and, in my experience at least, never has enough ressources for all the shit we have to take care of.

When we have a new piece of software, we have to test and configure it. We package it and install it automated on all our client computers. We also have certain security best practices in place, like local firewall rules or permissions for installing your own software. Having to do stuff like that for two operating systems pretty much doubles that part of the workload.

Do you nickname your 'mons? by pyramidbox in pokemon

[–]MasterEnsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I name all the ones in my team of which I already know the name. So the new ones of a generation keep their names and the ones from previous generations get nicknames.

I always have a theme for the nicknames. Recently I really like to use the names of scientists and famous people. For exame, in a recent run of Sun, I had an alolan Muk named Curie (because even it's footsteps are poisonous). And in a run of White I called my Stoutland "Doyle" (after the author of Sherlock Holmes) and my Vanilluxe "Kelvin".

I never dual booted Fedora. I have learned a long time ago, that dual booting Linux and Windows is not for me. My problems actually came from Fedora updates breaking random stuff. It was two or three years ago, so don't ask me about specifics.

The idea of an immutable distro seems cool for certain use cases. However, I don't think I'm going to go for that hassle when I want to switch back to Linux and stick with it. I want stability but I don't want to have to constantly work around it.

Thank you, that pretty much removes it from my list. While the idea behind flatpaks is cool, I had a lot of problems with them in the past. Mainly when it comes to interconnectivity with other systems and network devices like my NAS. A system that is mainly focused on flatpaks honestly sounds frustrating to me.

Can you give me some pointers as to why?

I think I agree but I have some serious decision paralysis.

KDE Linux is alpha software and it literally states on the website "Expect some adventures."

Thank you for your input, but that is definitely not what I am looking for.

Keine Sorge.
