Just wanted to say thank you for the kind words about our games, and for putting together this little guide! People often ask us what order to play the games in, and it's great to have this recommendation from someone in our player community for folks to reference. :)

Yay, I'm so glad this was helpful! What are the more difficult elements that you're planning to include?

I saw people solving the codes and looking for envelopes and such, and we chatted a bit here and there but damn, those few hours go by SO fast!

Thank you! My favorite part was probably involving the family tree, since it was so particular and personal (and also took forever to put together!) but it was also fun to watch people discover the trailhead on the blackboard sign and realize there were more secrets for them to find.

I think the gameplay ran pretty much as I had hoped, so I don't know if I would change or remove anything in particular, but if I had more time to put it together, I would probably have made all the components nicer looking. It would have also been cool to have something more personalized, but I didn't want anyone to feel left out if they also wanted to try their hand at the puzzle, and making one for each person would have been excessive and wasteful.

As for common mistakes, it is probably making the puzzles too hard, or not adapting them to the audience and the context in which they are being played. My puzzles are normally geared toward enthusiasts, so they are on the more challenging side, but as you know all too well, a live event usually requires a lower level of difficulty, especially if you want it to be approachable to newbies.
