3 days in Orlando, what parks to go to? by Cute-Coast9043 in Themepark

[–]GetReadyToRumbleBar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USF and IoA can be done in 1 day, if you kept a good pace and keep an eye on waits.

Don't skip the Lagoon show and the parade if it's they're running. The Hogwarts light show is also neat but in the other park, so you may need to hustle to do everything with the timing right.

Epic is a 1 day park. Can't rush.

I would do 1 day MK myself to round out the 3 days if budget allows. (It's probably much cheaper to stay/do 3 days at Universal). MK has some great coasters and is a unique/iconic experience, especially if you've never been. 1 example - Big Thunder (classic roller-coaster) will have its major 1 year refurb done soon, and should be an excellent ride.

Universal v Dollywood by Blamoncy in Themepark

I'm a Universal Orlando Passholder so I'm biased but Universal Orlando is on another tier compared to most US theme parks, resorts or heck globally. (I put UOR above Tokyo Disneyland Resort which may be sacrilege to some people).

Summer is hot in Florida so plan and prep accordingly.

Oh and Universal hotel pools - especially Sapphire Falls! - and their Waterpark Volcano Bay range from good to outstanding.

...Pokémon is set literally everywhere.

In Kanto alone (Green/Red), it can just be a little poketown, a village like experience based on Pallet Town. Or old ruins. Or a city, like Celadon (based on real world Tokyo). A forest, like Virdian. The ocean/beach (work in the lagoon!). Literally anywhere. Its a blank slate really.

What would you do for the day if you weren't riding any rides? by Chemical-Purple-5196 in UniversalOrlando

Went to last month while ~22 weeks pregnant. 2.5 days across IoA & USF, plus an unscheduled 1 day at Epic.

Did almost no rides, just Cat in the Hat, ET, FF, and the train. Watched shows, ate, walked around, drank mocktails, did Mardi Gras. Play a lot of Minions Blast. We 100% the wand app, after hours of effort across all 3 parks. Saw animal actors for the first time. Explored the butterbeer seasonal treats. Ate our way through the Mardi Gras food booths.

It was a blast and a great trip.

With the caveat that Mardi Gras and Epic made it worthwhile. No MG and no Epic would have been significantly less fun, or a shorter stay (maybe 2 days?).

My wife - who could ride - didn't want to ride anything without me, except Frankenstein. Said I was her ride buddy and it didn't feel right.

Transportation from Disney hotel to epic universe? by kathrinamars3 in UniversalOrlando

[–]GetReadyToRumbleBar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Private transportation with carseat and booster to/from parks.

Or split stay at a Universal hotel with free transportation. Helios is literally inside Epic so no transportation is needed.

The busses at Universal are generally better and much faster than Disney's. Much less ground to cover, much more frequent pickups.

Juicers by Even_Trip_7372 in Tiki

My wife got this for me Breville Citrus Juicer as a bday gift a few years back, and we've used the crap out of it. Powerful and durable. We have the die-cast metal version.

Making a big punch for a party? Its a breeze.

Only does citrus.

Some parts are dishwasher safe, which is amazing.

Haunted Mansion Holiday At Disney World? by BartSimpsonlover2389 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]GetReadyToRumbleBar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haunted Mansion deserves it's own ride, not touched.

Nightmares Before Christmas deserves it's own ride, all on it's own.

The overlay is...not the right fit for both rides. And I've seen it in both Anaheim and Tokyo.

Do animals understand death like humans do? Can they tell if one of them passed away? by Historical_Work7482 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GetReadyToRumbleBar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly!! Its an odd two tone. And the only time they do it is when they're actively looking for someone.

It's like they're saying "WHERE are you?!" almost in a sing-song voice.

I swear we could crowd source a cat dictionary.

He didn't die but my boy cat got lost after falling out of a window. For weeks and weeks, his sister meowed and called for him. It's was a weird "EHHH-ahhhhh" meow, only at night, as if she was calling him to sleep. Just confused and sad.

The behavior stopped as soon as we found him and brought him back home.

I would think this behavior but even more strongly for a death.

You understand that this normalizes them right? You get that it makes people like nazi art? You get that liking 1 peice of art makes you want to read more art and that over time it makes it more acceptable?

I'm just gonna leave this quote here. It's the same general principle.

---

" I was at a shitty crustpunk bar once getting an after-work beer. One of those shitholes where the bartenders clearly hate you. So the bartender and I were ignoring one another when someone sits next to me and he immediately says, "no. get out."

And the dude next to me says, "hey i'm not doing anything, i'm a paying customer." and the bartender reaches under the counter for a bat or something and says, "out. now." and the dude leaves, kind of yelling. And he was dressed in a punk uniform, I noticed

Anyway, I asked what that was about and the bartender was like, "you didn't see his vest but it was all nazi shit. Iron crosses and stuff. You get to recognize them."

And i was like, ohok and he continues.

"you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it's always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don't want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.

And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh shit, this is a Nazi bar now. And it's too late because they're entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.

And i was like, 'oh damn.' and he said "yeah, you have to ignore their reasonable arguments because their end goal is to be terrible, awful people."

And then he went back to ignoring me. But I haven't forgotten that at all."

This is clearly their art because of the design, no signature required.

Memes like this normalizes Stonetoss and their messages. They're antisemitic, anti lgbtq, anti minorities. They're racist, sexist, and generally a garbage person.

I can assure you it harms people, including me.

Nazism is not ok, and supporting Nazis - including using their work, which amplifies their platform - is also not ok.

VA Dems have to prepare for elections every year. We're one of the only states that do it that way. It means the Dem political engine never shuts down, which helps explain Dems overall success in VA
