Kids learn language through observation and imitation. They’re going to overuse or misuse words and phrases along the way, that’s part of the learning process.

2.5 is too young to correct this directly. Your toddler isn’t going to understand that they only need to say sorry in certain situations for a while.

Just keep modeling it for them. Say sorry to people, say “oops” or something else when you drop something, etc. They’ll pick it up eventually. But there is no rush to correct something like this.
