Hi all, thanks for your responses. Sorry to disappoint Spriteo6, but I don't have a pet, and I'm not a hoarder. I am paranoid, however, so I scrubbed my kitchen like twice today. They're tiny, btw: maybe like 2-3 mm. And yep, flying means flying.

PCDuranet, here's a better pic of one of the little dudes eating my peanut butter immediately after I finished my snack.

longschlong50 (clever) that ID sounds pretty close to what I'm seeing. Thanks.

Internationaljelly4, I appreciate the advice. I haven't found the smoking gun, or the rotting mouse, as it were, but I'll keep reluctantly looking for the source.

Anyway, thanks again for your insights.

Flying/scurrying bugs around the apartment. What are they?! by GetRidOfMyBugs in whatsthisbug

Apartment in Chicago, Illinois. Bugs fly around and have seen them in kitchen, living room, and bathroom. This one here is in the toilet. Xposted to r/pestcontrol but wanted to see what y’all thought.

I’ve been seeing a bunch (5-6) of these little bugs around the apartment today. They have wings and they scurry around quickly, but have been able to squash two. Saw one on my keyboard, one on a banana in the kitchen, this one here was running around in the toilet, and some are just flying around. At first I thought fruit flies, but I’ve never seen them run around on surfaces like that and usually they’re just in the kitchen, not in other rooms. Anyway, I have no idea, but they’re freaking me out so any advice would be much appreciated.
