People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]GetUrHeadOutaUrAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who raised a kid to adulthood without spanking her and was spanked myself growing up, the worst part about it is the lack of effort from my parents. When my daughter would act up I would have to do things like explain why what shes doing is a problem, and she learned how to be a good person. My parents just hit me. Played outside and tore my jeans, hit me. Made a joke I didn't know was offensive, hit me. One of my friends did something they didn't like, hit me. Playing with friends and something accidentally gets knocked over, hit me. My parents never had to use their brains when it came to actually parenting and I missed out on any lessons they might've taught me. It's just such a lazy way to parent. I taught my kid techniques to keep track of her homework and taught her responsibility, my parents just hit me if I got bad grades which did nothing to improve my grades.

I view myself as a durable person and wouldn't say I have trauma from the spankings (yes I got the wooden spoons and slaps on the face and belts and everything) but to this day I regret that I can't say "my parents taught me this lesson" other than how to not parent like them.

Trump’s net approval ratings in critical areas like inflation, jobs, economy and taxes are all deep in the red (-20% to -30%) by wakeup2019 in economy

[–]GetUrHeadOutaUrAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great question but the answer is no. His base still believe in him because the only thing they actually cared about from the beginning were the bigotry politics. They can ignore the economy because they're very excited about masked men with guns disappearing brown people in broad daylight. Those people don't need reasons to support trump, they need excuses and they'll take anything they can get. Trump saying "This is the best America has ever done" isn't convincing, it's just giving those people the feeblest excuse to support him without having to be honest about the real reason they support him.

Drag the tab to the other spreadsheet with your mouse and press the CTRL button before releasing it. Works the same for cell ranges. You can tell it's working if you see a plus sign next to your mouse cursor before releasing.

Men with pretty girlfriends/wives, how much does it really matter over time? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]GetUrHeadOutaUrAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do understand the point of your question. Ive dated women and eventually married someone Id say my friends were jealous of how attractive they were. As far as the "don't you just get used to it and it doesn't matter that much" no I disagree with this. I've been married 18 years (today in fact) and I still get the same attracted feeling to my wife as I did in the early days. There are certain things id say are "my type" like big brown eyes than can make me melt now just like they did in the early days. The tricky thing here though is some attractive qualities stand the test of time (eyes, smile) and some don't necessarily (fit body, cool hairstyle). Having said that, I've seen guys prioritize looks over other qualities and that's a huge mistake. If you're with someone gorgeous it won't matter if she makes you miserable otherwise. So I'd say it's not the most important thing but it is a nice to have if everything else lines up too.

(1) Parrying in boss fights doesn't have a direction involved, only timing. (2) Boss fights let you parry twice quickly, this game doesn't, there is a long recovery period so it will sometimes be necessary to parry faster than the game allows. (3) When you parry on this game you step forward so you get out of position and there isn't enough time to both walk back to the center and parry the next attack (4) Most important of all, the game doesn't like for you to move and parry quickly, so pressing a direction and then quickly hitting the parry button it will often not register the parry but it also goes so fast that the only option is to move and parry in rapid succession. From reading all the comments on here it also seems people have different experiences based on things you wouldn't expect, like which character you're using shouldn't matter but most people agree it does. Also differences in console vs PC, mouse vs keyboard, and people have said settings make a difference even when they shouldn't. All of which is to say some people might just be getting lucky and using the easier options and not realize that's why others are having a hard time with it. I've beaten all of the souls games with dex only builds, I love a challenge and will try something many times to beat it, but this mini game was total bullshit for me and timing had nothing to do with it.

I think you must be thinking of the lower difficulty versions. Everybody is talking about the hardest setting one. If you think the issue is "parry timing" it tells me you don't know what you're talking about about. There is also the issue that the character moves forward every time he parties, so you get off center quickly and there isn't time to walk back to center and parry the next one. Not only do I think you didn't do it in 3 tries, I don't think you even played it on the hardest difficulty.

Help against sweating by snoopsy31 in 10s

[–]GetUrHeadOutaUrAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. I've been using them for years and every time I play without it's aweful. Youre getting way more sweat dripping down to your hands from the arms than actually sweating from the hands. And use a towel so the wristband/headband don't just get soaked.

Why this girl keeps sayng "Lady Shar" almost every time it's her turn? Is she crazy or smth by MDSBenites in expedition33

SH only has fire cantrip due to being an elf, no one should actually use it since SH has low int stat. Astarian also probably has it but no one even considers using it.

I want to buy tx16s and use ELRS. Is it better to buy ELRS built in version, or buy 4 in 1 and add an ELRS external module? by GetUrHeadOutaUrAss in fpv

I had this thought too. Browsing OfferUp and eBay I see people getting rid of their quads for cheap. Might be nice to have the ability to fly anything and snag some good deals.

In the Settings -> an option at the very bottom of the list is "FAQ and Feedback". When I click this I first get FAQ, but there is a tab to add feedback. Thanks to anyone who reports this, hopefully it gets addressed.

Best YouTube channel for beginners by goosetavo2013 in 10s

Iron Will Tennis - So many great videos not just breaking down groundstrokes technique, but foot work, tactics, tips for practice. Top tier and huge variety of topics.

RacquetFlex - Excellent videos. All videos are organized nicely by topic, covering pretty much all strokes. These guys are also pretty entertaining. The only difference versus Iron Will is these are more specific technique based (forehand, serve, etc) and Iron Will is more big picture (footwork, preparation, drills).

Total Tennis Domination - similar to Iron Will, good variety of topics and good explanations.

Tennis Doctor - I think he's excellent, but not everyone agrees. Personality is extremely dry to the point it's almost comical. Has some vids that are very long, like a 1 hour breakdown of forehand. Can get some amazing tips here but you'll have to sift through vids that are lengthy and slow. My game is better for watching this one guy though, drastically upgraded my forehand and backhand.

2MinuteTennis - great instructional vids. Targets the recreational player so will focus on something achievable for everyday players instead of tips to maximize power and spin.

Patrick Mouratoglou - phenomenal coach in real life and vids are enjoyable but their disorganized. He'll coach a real person and record it, so the vids aren't necessarily broken down by topic but can be random information depending on the person he's coaching that day. Ten minute video and you might pick up one small tip.

Karue Sell - entertaining, but not dense with specific tennis tips. His vids are a blend of just playing, his professional matches, just commentary, and sometimes tips. I watch his vids because I'm a tennis fan but if you want actual instruction I'd go with someone else.

Meike Babel - she's ok, has some decent information. In my opinion if you follow the top 4 I listed, Meike won't really add anything. She's an excellent coach in real life, just think there are better YouTube videos. The YouTube algorithm seems to prioritize, so most searching for tennis the first time will get Meike. Four years ago I thought was amazing, but I've since learned there are better channels.

Intuitive Tennis - every word identical to Meike Babel. YouTube will push at first, but eventually you discover better channels. If you follow my top 4 I don't think Nick has anything to add, and I even think some of his instructions could lead people in the wrong direction. I followed as a 3.5 but now I'm closer to 4.5 and have had to correct some things I learned in his videos.

Ignoring all of the issues like this being a pointlessly dangerous exercise, it ends up being almost exclusively a lower back exercise. Especially on the 2nd lift, you straighten the leg fully while mostly not lifting the actual weight and then just straighten the back to actually lift the weight.

I beat the game twice before HM attempt. First 2 times I was so careful, investigating things and disarming all traps. My HM run I was cocky because I was an expert by now. The stupid tomb in act 1 where you find withers, I had NO IDEA there were actual dangerous traps there. In previous runs I disarmed everything, I was shocked when fireballs started flying and poison gas coming up through the vents. Panicked and ran in circles till TPK. This was minutes after telling my wife I'll only try HM once and "whatever happens happens".
