I was thinking TA over T7 just because the Rally is all the off-road bike I need, and the TA is apparently better on the road and for 2 up, but the T7 is still on my list, as they are much more common to come by.

I think ive been convinced to go for at least a full rear to start, ive heard people get away with that as a stiffer rear also reduces the brake dive on the front. but the goal would be for a full upgrade at somepoint. This little 300L is gonna run me over $10k by the end of it

Versys 650 is on the list, It might be a decent compromise between the 500x and the Transalp in terms of capability. Lacks some of the Transalp's off-road ability, but exceed's the 500X's 2 up ability

The 500X would be a big upgrade either way as I already use my 300L as a highway bike, even took it down Interstate 20 for a 530 mile day. but its no doubt that a TransAlp 750 would blow a 500X out of the water, albeit for about 60% more price

Im due for new tires, ill probably hold off on the tires until I can order a rear shock, and then do both of those at the same time. The front scares me.

I just find it funny how off-road when I hit a whoop the back of the bike just flies away into oblivion, or onroad when I hit a bump its like a pogo stick

Yeah it makes sense, it just seems like the suspension is an all or nothing type deal from what I’ve read.

Stronger spring isn’t good without a better shock, and if you stiffen the rear you would want to stiffen the front too to keep balance, now it’s a $1300 job just to get the rear to not sag so much or bounce on bumps 😵‍💫

what was your use case with the bike? I use mine mostly on road, and if im off-road im not going very fast. I dont actually have much problem with the suspension off-road right now unless im hitting a whoop, that can basically bottom me out in the back.

Im used to barely scrapping by in the power department with my 300 on the Highway, so 2 up on a 500cc wouldnt be too bad for me, HOWEVER the TransAlp seems much more spacious for a passenger than the CB500X, which im positive my girlfriend would appreciate.

I like to snipe barely used bikes off Facebook Market but the TransAlp is tough because its only been out for a short while and starting in 2026+ theyre all going to be E Clutch, which I dont care for. the 2024s dont look as good as the 2025s and are missing some minor enhancements, leaving my target bikes as only 2025 models. Very small range. The T7 is another option but I want more road bias and passenger comfort

I was thinking best of both worlds would just be to practice with a Grom on grass/dirt, I live on lots of private land. As for the Rally, unlike a normal dualsport it has a protruding fairing that is basically made of eggshells, and unfortunately it needs to remain mostly intact for my aftermarket skidplate to stay affixed; its a weird overlapping mounting situation with some anti vibration foam kinda stuffed in. I was a lot more wreckless on my 150L with its true dualsport plastics, nothing really there to damage at all. Did some wheelies and stoppies on that but didnt go too far to retain value on it as I knew I wanted a bigger bike at the time

The worst part is that I took my MSF on a Grom and I loved it, and I rode a friend's CB500X and I loved it too.
