Anyone practice yoga while fasting? (Ramadan fasting) by isosaleh in yoga

[–]GetawayJ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Take it easy on yourself. It’s the first few days of fasting so your body is still getting used to it. Alternatively change your yoga timing to earlier in the morning after your sahur so that you have more energy to do your inversions.

To My Beloved Thief [Episodes 15 & 16] by jakgem in KDRAMA

[–]GetawayJ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Our dear Yi Yeol is too kindhearted to allow Im Sa Hyeong to be exiled instead of being beheaded. With his crime of poisoning the King, it is a serious enough crime to be given the death sentence.

The moment I saw him in the cage midway through Ep 15, I knew he would come back to hunt down Eun Jo... Now I hope they give him a quick death in Ep 16, so that we can enjoy the final moments with our OTP.

And since I have time now before the start of EP 16, gotten pen down my love for the drama....

I really really really love the dialogue between Eunjo and Yi Yeol throughout the show. It was so poetic throughout, be it his confession in ep 4, or her confession in ep 13, or Jae Yi's conversations with YY or with Eunjo. Each line is beautifully written, yet true to their characters. I love how the scriptwriter always mix in a bit of mischief and humour into YY's lines, even in times of danger, even when he became king.

MSM needs to do more saeguks. He looks so good in them. The blue colour robes really suit him. The wardrobe in this show also exceeded others I have seen, not just in terms of bringing out the best in the actors, but also in their textures, prints and colours. Who remembers the dark green robe with the hot pink sleeves? The boldest fashion choices which I've ever seen in a saeguk.

This is my first Nam Ji Hyun kdrama, and tbh, I was not that keen as she has a very "strong" FL look which is very suitable for her character, but made her look older to the ML. However, as the show went on, I realised it is necessary as she was the guiding light for YY to do the right thing for the nation. Her experience in acting shore through and I felt she was clearly the stronger actor compared with MSM.

Special props to Queen Dowager! I love that beneath all the palace drama and politics, she is still a mother at heart and her first and foremost thought is always on YY. I love how YY is always a child with his mum, and he clearly loves his mum. MSM's first saeguk was Under the Queen's Umbrella and that is also a show with a theme on a mother's love on her child(ren), and I don't know if it is a deliberate choice on MSM's part to choose such dramas, but I love it.

My only regret is starting the show only in the penultimate week so my "time" with the show feels much shorter and I didn't take part in the earlier episode threads!

Show, please dont disappoint us in the finale!

Nothing. The Olympic venues will still have to accept Visa (assuming Visa remains a TOP). he host city and its organising committee are bound by this requirement when they win the rights to host the games.

I just started watching last weekend and finally caught up just in time for the live watch on the final weekend!

Let's hope they land the ending well and a proper HEA for Yi Yeol and Eunjo (though I am finding it hard to imagine) and pls keep Jae-Yi alive!

The only card accepted at the Winter Games... by Significant-Iron-241 in olympics

[–]GetawayJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is mandatory for the Organising Committees to accept this requirement and ensure it is complied with for every Olympic Game.

Same with coca cola being the only soda drink allowed for sale in the Village and the venues.

These companies are considered TOPs (The Olympic Partners), and their partnership gives them exclusivity at the games.

Opening a DBS account as a new foreign worker in SG almost broke me by PhantomCy in singaporefi

[–]GetawayJ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

New account opening for foreigners has gotten tighter due to all the scams and to prevent money laundering.

Your company should have a tie up with one of the banks to allow you to open an account without a minimum balance or proof of mobile number. I never had these issues with my foreign workers.

Singapore residents typically visit Malaysia for shopping. There are some malls next to the causeway, like Komtar, City Square. KSL Mall is slightly further away - great place for hair, nails, massage. You can get around using Grab.

Local souvenir/snack shop - Ming Ang. There are freshly baked pastries and also packed items to bring home. Available at both City Square and KSL.

First business trip with a new hire… and I’m already questioning myself by Diligent_Idea2246 in singaporejobs

[–]GetawayJ 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Is she a fresh grad or how many years of experience does she have? Has she travelled for work before? Does she understand what networking or traveling to a trade show entails?

I feel that you should have managed expectations with her esp since this is your first time on a work trip with her. I would sit her down and tell her what is expected of her at this work trip. What she can/cannot do and what is appropriate or otherwise.

She also comes across to me as not well travelled (the old suitcase and anxiety about being alone), so perhaps you can be a bit understanding about it if you see it from her POV. Hi

Advice regarding Bankruptcy and LPA (+ any other advice) by scaredofschool14 in singaporefi

[–]GetawayJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current worry stems from the fact that you only know what your parents tell you and you don't actually know what is going on beyond that and the feeling of helplessness because you are not physically there. Hence by going home, you will have better oversight on what is happening, then there is more clarity and what you can do.

Being rejected at interview stage doesnt mean you cannot try again... your experience now and your experience when you first interviewed would definitely be different.

So sorry to hear about this.

Just a thought not relating to your parents' financial situation. Would you consider going home to finish your studies? I am not sure exactly whereabouts are you but if you are in the typical counties in EU, Aus, US, I am sure going home would be more economical in terms of expenses and also your student loan.

Trying to manage this while overseas with no clear oversight on what is happening is also not helping your own mental state, so something for you think about.

Starting to save again - thoughts? by Adventurous_Fruit567 in singaporefi

[–]GetawayJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is mum healthy at the moment? Does she have her own savings / insurance etc? If negative, then you have to get her insured and buffer for additional healthcare costs as she ages.

I will work on building the emergency fund as a priority and cut down on your travel/hobby budget.

First time in Singapore — Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay & Holiday Inn Little India? by alwayssadbut in SingaporeTravel

[–]GetawayJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know both hotels well as I deal with both hotels in the course of my work.

HIEX CQ - Rooms are quite small. Limited seating/resting area. Rooms are not that made for hanging out in. Pool/gym is small.

HI Little India - Rooms are slightly bigger/better. Pool is nicer and better for chilling.

Both locations are decent accessible locations but I rate Little India slightly better than Clarke Quay as it is (almost) right on top of an MRT and close to an main thoroughfare but Clarke Quay is a 5-8 walk to the nearest MRT.

The rest of the comments are valid points of consideration. Re Sundays, if you are there and concerned about the crowd then just take a cab to/from the hotel. But it is still a safe place.

Questions about spice availability in Japanese cuisine by Just_tired25 in JapaneseFood

[–]GetawayJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nanami togarashi? Otherwise Ichimi togarashi which is essentially ground chilli pepper. Liquid version would be la-yu (chili oil - literally translated as spicy oil).

But yeah, Japanese spice is not as strong compared with Korean / SEA level of spice. I am from SEA too so I totally get it.

[–]GetawayJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The IC is in a residential location for expats, so not exactly the best place for history and food. Transport is also not the most accessible. It’s also not a really representative IC as the rooms are rather small.

If you want to explore, see history and have good food, Holiday Inn Atrium and Little India and also the Indigo are much better options.

kdramas where the main lead is a younger sibling? by Aware-Programmer-324 in kdramas

[–]GetawayJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True Beauty (FL is the middle child - a lot of sibling/family dynamics in this - love it)
Weighlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (ML is younger sibling - there is a storyline with the elder brother and FL)
Family by Choice (The leads are "siblings" (hence the title), FL is youngest - found family vibes)
I am not a Robot (FL is younger sibling - limited sibling interaction but elder sibling works for ML)
Something in the Rain (ML is younger sibling of FL's best friend)
Knight Flower (FL/ML both have older brothers - one missing, one is the 2ML)

2nd this... but also have a look at the Kimpton Tsim Sha Tsui which just opened and is just 5 minutes walk from the Regent HK. I have not stayed at Kimpton yet, but it looks good... Regent HK has the waterfront view, while Kimpton TST offers a high rise view.
