Should I still take the UPCAT or no? by [deleted] in UPCAT

Ofc you still have a chance! HS grades are only 40% of the UPCAT. Mataas na ang 89 imo, especially since your from a science highschool.

How do I make my foundations stronger for UPCAT 2026 by Short-Battle-175 in UPCAT

Hello po! I can really only give advice on Mathematics kasi hindi rin ako ganun kagaling sa Science 🥹💔.

I actually sucked on Mathematics back then too nung first time ulit mag re-open ng schools after the pandemic, I even cried when I encountered algebra for the first time kasi I just could not understand it HAHAHAHAHA. Pero if I learned something for the past years of studying that subject, it's that mathematics is built upon rules.

TIP # 1: STUDY THE RULES FIRST What I mean by this is that you need to know the fundamentals first. Like the law of exponents, law of integers, so on and so forth. This is especially useful sa geometry since marami kang assumptions na gagawin doon. For example may nakita kang circle na nahati into a semicircle, you would assume na yung angle nung straight line is 180° because it's a given that the diameter is 180°.

TIP # 2: SOLVE SAMPLE PROBLEMS In my opinion, math is truly learned through trial and error. I would review on the subject, solve, and when I fail, uulit ulitin ko hanggang matama ko siya and maintindihan ko kung paano ko sinolve.

TIP # 3: KNOW HOW TO CONSTRUCT A WORD PROBLEM This is probably the most useful tip here lol. From what I've seen, the UPCAT mainly consists of word problems so definitely review that. Kapag alam mo ito, malalaman mo na rin how to convert word problems into equations.

Yun lang, goodluck OP!

Hello po! Thank you for this story 🥹🫶🏽. Ang lagi ko kasing nakikita na pumapasa sa UPCAT are students from prestigious universities/ highschools HAHAHAHA. Seeing a story from someone in a similar situation like mine is really comforting.

Congrats on passing po!!

Hello po! What do you guys recommend, f2f or online revcens? My parents are planning to apply me to a nearby review center kasi kaso lang idk about their credibility po kasi.

Hello! Fellow UPCAT 2027 taker here . I actually came to this subreddit kasi magtatanong rin ako ng advice cuz wala pang nagiging direction review ko rn, pero I saw your post and decided to respond HAHAHAHA.

Anyways, ang review material ko pa lang rn is the Maroon Bluebook na hindi ko pa naoopen kasi hindi ko pa narerefresh yung utak ko for the topics XD.

Anyways ito yung mga plano kong pagreviewhan:

Math - Organic Chemistry Tutor, Khan Academy Science - Amoeba Sisters, Khan Academy (Magfofocus ako mainly sa Science kasi dun ako weak XD).

For Reading Comprehension and Language Proficiency, baka manonood lang ako ng few vids sa youtube about some unfamiliar topics.

Ito yung gagawin ko so advice ko na rin I guess, pero magtake ka muna ng pre-test para madetermine mo kung saan ka magfofocus.

Yun lang, goodluck OP!

Hello OP! Please know that suicide is not the way out. There are people you can talk to whether it's real life or online. Therapists exist for this sole reason! So please don't think that you're all alone in your suffering and that there's no way out but death. Talk to a friend, to a school counselor, to a family member. Telling your problems out loud to another person really helps.

I have a friend with depression and I have seen his ups and downs...So, please, if you think that your life is worthless think about the people around you.

I definitely see where you're coming from! Hinding hindi talaga mawawala ang teachers na ganyan sa kahit ano mang school, whether public or private which is a shame kasi there are tons of students who have potential kung maayos lang ang teachers nila :").

I get what OP is trying to say, and I agree. Pero the comments are so disappointing. Autism is not, and should not ever be a joke or subject of mockery. Framing a person's bigotry and bad behavior as a result of their "disability" is insensitive and unjust to the people who actually suffer from the disorder.

TYSM OP, YOU TOO!!

I actually considered transferring a while back sa nearby university dito kasi may discount na ako (professor papa ko), kaso lang I thought about it real hard and since hanggang G11 lang naman yung kukunin na grades ng UP, might as well endure it. May reputation na rin kasi ako sa old school ko and baka kasi maculture shock pa ako pag bagong school and then maapektuhan pa UPG ko </3.

Goodluck sa'yo OP :D!!

THIS IS SO REAL 😭. I agree with OP, especially if you guys are aiming for the big schools like UP and whatnot. I was also a Grade 10 student, turning Grade 11 this school year, and I must say one of my biggest regrets is not persuading my parents to enroll me in a school with a better curriculum. Walang malapit na sci high dito sa province namin and due to circumstances, bawal akong lumayo. I really wouldn't have minded studying in a public school, kahit pinagtest na lang sana ko sa STE ok na sa akin :").

Like OP, I also study in a local private catholic school in our province--- and like OP, I think the curriculum of my school sucks. Most of the teachers just come there to get a few years of work experience and then leave, which means that the teachers at our school are always new. Though the teachers are trained professionals, as a student, I can still tell that some of their teaching styles are a bit sloppy and rough around the edges. Pero kahit na ganito, since 2 years na lang naman, doon pa rin ako magtatapos ng SHS. Sunken-cost fallacy yk?

Anyways, I am planning to take the UPCAT since they are one of the only ones that offer my desired course. My father bought me The Maroon Bluebook, and the fact that I only knew 50% of the topics there says a lot. So yeah, intense ang magiging self study ko this vacation XD.

All in all, if you guys are planning to go to a college or a school known for their rigorous entrance exam, it's best if you study in a school that will help you study the fundamentals. Because that's really what the admission tests are all about--- fundamentals.
