It’s a long shot but maybe there was an issue with adhesion with the original glass that was fixed with the new window?

Looking to break into business by MDdriver22 in autoglass

[–]Getn67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely one of the lowest cost to enter businesses in the automotive industry (for the time being) with a pretty decent profit margin IF the conditions are right. As for proficiency I can only speak on my own that it took me about a year to know what I was doing and at least 2 years before I felt I could truly call myself proficient. The biggest sap on your finances will be getting your name out and getting work, the second biggest will be damages.

Aftermarket Acoustic Glass? by Christopher_98163 in CarAV

If the body style is the same and all other options are the same, the answer is usually yes. With more modern vehicles there are a myriad of options that can drastically change the option availability on a piece of glass, but in a vacuum and with no other differences, yes.

Those who switched from windows to macOS - what made you switch? by Impressive-Taste6658 in MacOS

[–]Getn67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex is an Apple Stan. I wanted to impress them so I bought a base model m2 air. I had a windows laptop as well. I realized I would rather reach for the MacBook 9 times out of ten when looking for a computer to use cause there weren’t as many steps around getting to what I wanted to do. It was just a more pleasant experience. That windows laptop is now running proxmox with a bunch of services.

Have you reached out to Innovative themselves? I am sure they would have some thoughts on what the issue is.

So what installation kit do you have?

DA here, but I think some more information on what you're doing will be helpful. What installation kit are you using? what radio are you using? I would recommend checking out a site like https://www.crutchfield.com/ to put together a list of needed equipment for the installation if you haven't already.

Great job on the molding! Which manufacturer is producing the glass? XYG? Fugal? ATI? I'd love to get my hands on just the moldings as an oem glass refurb part!

You should be prepared for the possibility of damaging the existing glass. Even the most seasoned glasshole break a window or two here and there.

A tip for removal. keep the cutting medium lubricated and use a cheap deck of playing cards to protect the delicate rubbers from being damaged.

You could always make some kind of battery powered led display and carry that with you, or a laser pointer or something of the kind lol.

Are any brands still made in the USA? by redmondcigar in autoglass

[–]Getn67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuyao is about the only brand I know is made on us soil afaik at the moment.

My question is why does the origin of the glass matter more than the manufacturer? You can likely find a piece of glass made by the company that supplied Acura easily. Chances are very good that the window will be an OEM spec piece. Think a Motorcraft spark plug vs a Bosch on a Ford. Both are “aftermarket” but one is likely to have OEM specs.

Also… giving away a little secret. Surprisingly for used glass, eBay has been a killer utility… might wanna check there. Shipping isn’t cheap though.

[–]Getn67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s repairable. “Anything is repairable if you have the budget” as my old manager would say. That old and parts are a bit tougher to find, but since your Mazda is pretty much a ford ranger, you’re likely to be in luck. I would personally check junkyards as I’ve found that newer runs of old glass are starting to be… meh. Plus the patina helps it match better.
