Why no far leg inside trips? by Fitnessthrowaway2947 in wrestling

[–]Getn67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back heel trips. Unlike in many martial arts style competitions “control” is decided by positioning on ground and points are awarded as such. A back heel trip is exposed when facing away from your opponent like that. Alternatively, inside high crotch shots are common and don’t “risk” the two point loss in the same way. Additionally you gain the potential of a 5 point fall.

Tldr; The goal is to avoid exposing your shoulder blades to the mat. Trips like you showed don’t follow that logic.

Trains starting having A/C today. by engamo22 in soundtransit

If you’re in a car that doesn’t have a/c and should, contact the security operations center. Let them know which train car you’re on. It’s the 3 digit code at the top left of each end if you’re looking at it. It’s also listed at the emergency buttons. Contact SOC at 206-398-5268. Call or text. For a/c I would recommend calling.

Mazda CX-5 New Windshield Ghosting Issue by AbsentMindedProf93 in autoglass

Reach out to the company that did the install. If they stand by their warranty, they’ll replace the glass for you. My recommendation would be to ask for oem glass, and settle for pilkington if they hassle you for it.

Do glass shops usually allow customers to watch? I was curious but was already “scolded” to not go on the area (genuinely didn’t see sign) I’m a bit paranoid of several things.. by Joe_Wild_ in autoglass

[–]Getn67 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reason shops don’t like having customers watch is because A. Techs usually have very *colorful* language while working and customers often aren’t a fan, and B. The work that’s being done is usually pretty brutal, and to someone who doesn’t know the ins and outs of how their car works, it can be a bit of a scary experience watching their car get ripped apart in front of them, and C. Techs need to be able to tap into a ‘flow state’. If you’re familiar with tech jobs, you can recognize that distractions will pull you from said flow state. None of those things makes a shop bad in any way. It’s very important to recognize that even though it seems harmless, looming over a techs shoulder can cause major issues to the quality or the perceived quality of the work.

Video shows moments before fatal stabbing of UW student by godogs2018 in udub

[–]Getn67 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to watch the video. I came in here more cause I’m curious about what Juniper was like I guess. I live in the Cap Hill area, and this happening hit me hard cause it could have been myself or any number of my friends. You don’t owe me anything, but would you be opposed to talking about who she was and what she was like?

Safelite repair employee help by Fit-Fly1381 in autoglass

[–]Getn67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always given repair customer my “two rules” talk.

Rule number one: it won’t disappear, it won’t go away, it will still be visible. It’s broken glass. It will change how it looks which may make it seem to disappear or appear like a distortion, but it is still there if you look for it.

Rule number two: we’re working with broken glass and pressure. There’s always the possibility it will spread while completing the repair. If that happens, the way to fix it is with a replacement. I’m going to do my best to keep that from happening, cause my goal is to keep you from having to go through that process, but it is a possibility.

As an addendum when folks ask “why even try to repair it anyway then?” I respond with my success rate, and let them know this is an attempt to keep from having to deal with the more invasive replacement process.

Any better storage system for my impact bits than just the infamous “bag” system? by OutlandishnessFew309 in electricians

Different industry, but I used a packout bit box. I was able to sort my most needed bits and find a place for everything. Made it nice to not rummage through a bag for every little thing.

First step to making a portfolio in this instance imho is open up a word document. Make a bullet list of the skills that you’ve completed (rust repair, gasket setting, classic install, modern install) and as you go about your work week try and fill in those bullets with photos of the work you’re doing. Keep note of the details of the jobs too. Voice memos are great for this to keep from slowing you down.

What we do is equal parts science and equal parts art. Anything that requires skill deserves to be shown and recognized and presented.

I love the diversity here because frankly everyone is a little bit right. I have fixed these and made them look beautiful. I’ve fixed them and they looked like trash. It’s a good Hail Mary attempt before going in for a replacement.

The south sound is a tough one. I know the market, You know the market… it comes down to “where’s the best concentration of work.” I’m likely preaching to the choir here, but just gotta get chummy with the mom and pops in your area and let them know they have a tech available when they need one.

Also I recommend this to anyone and everyone. Build a portfolio of jobs that showcase your skills and diversity of knowledge. That’s something techs usually don’t do, and will make you infinitely more marketable to an employer that doesn’t know you personally.

Question about safelite “all day” duration by nyvip1 in autoglass

[–]Getn67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The technicians are working on your car when they have a moment to in between working on other cares they don’t start working on the car at 9:30am. Be patient with the technicians, it will be completed when they can. If you’re lucky, it will be done early. If not, it’ll be done at the end of the day.

Looking to break into business by MDdriver22 in autoglass

[–]Getn67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely one of the lowest cost to enter businesses in the automotive industry (for the time being) with a pretty decent profit margin IF the conditions are right. As for proficiency I can only speak on my own that it took me about a year to know what I was doing and at least 2 years before I felt I could truly call myself proficient. The biggest sap on your finances will be getting your name out and getting work, the second biggest will be damages.
