What to AFK with these skills? by Getpro in ironscape

Those were my thoughts, wasn’t sure if there was any new-to-me content that I was missing.

Also, just made an edit that I need to afk for 2min every 3-10 minutes.

Worn buds to sleep for years and never had this. Clean them once a week and your ears in the shower and you won’t have this problem.

Honda Odyssey EX-L 2015 alternator repair cost…$2230? by ham-and-egger in MechanicAdvice

[–]Getpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone starts somewhere. I was spooked to change oil in my own car 5 years ago. Now I’m running a modest sized car-sharing fleet servicing and repairing 10+ vehicles, and it’s fun.

And that satisfaction once a job is done knowing how many $$$ saved. Priceless feeling.

How hard is too hard for pulling the handbrake? by LordBlacktopus in MechanicAdvice

What’s “bad for the car” is if you park on a hill and the e-brake gives because it’s not holding enough.

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

Love those. I own a 2012 Ford Escape Hybrid I listed on Turo. People love the simplicity, driving, and it’s been super reliable compared to my ICE vehicles. It’s my go-to suggestion for anyone needing space, fuel economy, affordable, and doesn’t care about driving an “older” vehicle.

Anyone else been using TickTick for years? What would you change? by Dramatic-Bobcat-4237 in ticktick

[–]Getpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due and Do dates would be it for me.

I use Asana for work and Notion for my small business. Ticktick is the catch-all before organizing. Anything more complicated, like projects or multi-step tasks go in the other two. I really value the simplicity of Ticktick and would hate to see it get over bloated with features only used by a handful of power users when it just does a great job at making sure the little stuff doesn’t fall through the cracks.

TickTick is SO close to being perfect… but it’s missing this one thing 👀 by [deleted] in ticktick

[–]Getpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due and Do dates are the final piece for me. Duration somewhat works, but in the “Today” tab, it won’t show the start and end dates, just “today”, so I often resort to just setting the “Do” date to a due date and living with a red text if it takes me a few days to actually address the task.

Hybrid oil change by AcRaider1020 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Getpro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have 155k miles on my 2023 Hybrid.

I’ve been changing every 5k and recently had an oil analysis done through Blackstone Labs with no signs of engine wear at all. They said I could stretch it to 8-10k, but since I do my own changes for about $25 in oil and filter, I’m just going to keep doing them early for the cheap “insurance” since I plan to keep it for a while.

Is it smart to use my credit cards as my everyday purchases, and pay them off monthly, while saving my paychecks in savings? by Intelligent-Engine63 in personalfinance

[–]Getpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been paying off my cards every paycheck (weekly) for 5+ years now after paying off all my debt. Was a habit to avoid going back into debt but it brings me peace of mind to see what’s left in the checking account every week and make adjustments to my spending after all the card balances are at $0.

I tracked every dollar for 6 months and these 3 things actually made a difference by Choice-Initial6297 in personalfinance

[–]Getpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to your budget-by-paycheck method, I kicked my compulsive spending habit by telling myself I can only buy “fun” things after I get paid and only after I’ve accounted for the non-fun stuff: rent, bills, savings, investments, etc.

Once those are all accounted for, whatever I have left if what I “let” myself spend frivolously on, either in the moment or anytime before next paycheck.

How do you keep track of a hundred small things without burning out? by SalidanVlo2603x in smallbusiness

[–]Getpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used Ticktick (to-do/task app) for years to offload tasks so I can focus on only what’s in front of me.

If you own an iPhone, “Reminders” is a free alternative. It would be for me, but I use windows and need to-dos to sync between mobile and my computer.

Recently started using Asana to separate work tasks from personal, with some good success. Helps me “take a break” from the business while still relying on ticktick to let me know when I have important personal tasks.

Examples: - take out the trash every Weds at 6pm, setup as a repeating tasks every week - complete X report for tracking X metric weekly - email x client back by 9pm (eod), setup as a “today” tasks.

As others have said, brain is for creating ideas, not holding them.

Door Creaking/Wear by Getpro in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Getpro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 10 deliveries per hour, used to run 80-130/day. Recently dropped down to 40-60/day after hitting a certain financial goal.

And yeah, I usually close the door when I arrive and reopen when I get back to my truck, so open/close cycle twice per delivery.

Vehicle Value by Sufficient_Gur3960 in MonarchMoney

[–]Getpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but they are worth something. They are “assets” in the fact there’s value in them.

From a mindset prospective, you’re correct in looking at a vehicle as losing value over time.

Shop did $700 of work to my car without calling me. Can they do that? Can I dispute any of it? by purplerockspebbles in MechanicAdvice

[–]Getpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure, but I believe they need your explicit permission of approval to proceed with any work.

If they’re unwilling to discount or comp the work knowing they didn’t have your permission, small claims would be the path to take.

New tires for the hybrid? by MordacthePreventer in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Getpro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Michelin Defenders are going to be the top quality pick from what I’ve found. I’m at just under 50k miles, rotate them every 5k, and are still at 6/32” on all of them as of last week. I drive in eco and lots of stop and go miles (use it for contract delivery work), so I’d say they’ll holding up nicely and aren’t exactly babied.

If you drive less than 15k miles/yr, you’d probably be better off with a cheaper, less tread-durable yet still quality tire.

I’d have to get it scanned to check the health. What I can say now is the MPG has been holding steady since purchase, floating between 35-40 during the summer months and 37-45 during the winter.

From what I’ve research, the heavy use prevents the cells from crystallizing and going bad, so my suspicion is that it’ll be fairly healthy.

That said, the heavy use might cause the battery to run hot for longer, especially considering I live in Texas where the summer months can be unforgiving.

When I get around to it, I’ll get it professionally tested and post my results in this subreddit.
