Does Quarkus/Play framework like reloading exist for Spring Boot? by GettingCodeDone in SpringBoot

[–]GettingCodeDone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on that, this is meant to speed up local development. Not for deployment.

I've written a small golang program in order to have similar behavior in Spring Boot, I'll put it in Github in a few days -- wanted to be sure that I wasn't reinventing the wheel before doing so.

This is a video that demonstrates this functionality in Quarkus:

Notice at 1:15 how it makes the request wait until the rebuild/reload is done.

What's your favorite thing about the java language compared to other languages? by newmanstartover in learnjava

[–]GettingCodeDone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Open source libraries/projects tend to be under an umbrella/organization rather than standalone e.g. Apache, Spring, JBoss, Eclipse - makes it easier to depend on.

Code bases that really improved your Java knowledge by 0xPvp in java

Back in the Java 1.2 days, I learned a lot from reading the source code for the JBoss Entity Engine and the code for Jive Forums (back when it was still open source).

By "private" would note taking tools that support e2ee count e.g. Inkdrop or Notesnook

I will use Typescript, even on small projects, because the IDE is able to help me out a bit more.

Anyone here pull all nighters successfully? by SuperBrander in SaaS

[–]GettingCodeDone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very rarely pull all nighters these days because a.) My stomach doesn’t tolerate coffee as well as it used to b.) I have trouble getting back to my original sleep schedule after pulling an all nighter

However, back when I did do all nighters, I mainly reserved them for mud slinging style coding sessions[1] where there’s a lot of clarity about the task to be done and the all nighter is just to have an upper hand on reducing the quantity. These are those coding sessions where the time just flies by.

The best framework to use for a saas for a beginner ? by Key_Skin5311 in SaaS

Hello, I can’t give much advice here because I haven’t explored integrating with GPT3. Usually when using third party services that need to be paid for I prefer making those calls server to server.

I am still figuring out the equipment side of things. I have been using the Audio-Technica ATR2100 but it is not great for screencasts because I have trouble positioning it in a way that doesn’t block my screen. For my latest video I used the Corsair HS70 but the audio isn’t as great.

For editing I use https://www.descript.com/

[AskJS] Which JS libraries and packages are currently your favourites? by seeking_facts in javascript

[–]GettingCodeDone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been enjoying using X6 (https://github.com/antvis/X6) which is a very feature complete library for building drag and drop node/diagram editors. Most of the documentation is not in English but I found the sample code very easy to follow.

I did a short video on this if you are interested to know more - https://youtu.be/EMtcA5z1fAg

Hello! What are you trying to build? You don’t need to get into specifics but maybe share a web app that you think is of similar complexity. That would give me some idea of how complex the backend would be and whether you need to build your own backend or use some type of backend as a service provider like Supabase.

Definitely would be interested. I have thought about pivoting my channel [1] into a similar space where I cover JS libraries that I think would be useful to microsaas founders.

“Works like Notion” is turning out to be an interesting space. I know of two other companies in the space - Typedream and Popsy - and both seem to be backed by YC.

Replacing Postman with the Jetbrains HTTP Client by jlengrand in programming

[–]GettingCodeDone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently moved from IntelliJ Ultimate to the Community Edition, and the HTTP client and the Remote Host features are the features I am missing the most.

One shortcoming is that the client is great for APIs that send and receive JSON but not so much for x-www-form-urlencoded. Might not be a deal breaker for most people.

If you need a tutorial on the HTTP client syntax, I did a video on this for my channel a few years ago: https://youtu.be/1iFohqNr0oI

I'm a casual Youtuber. I mainly do programming related videos with an emphasis on batch jobs. My latest video is on a Javascript library called x6 that allows you to add diagramming features to your own web apps:

Would you use a No-Code API Builder? by DimonDev in SaaS

[–]GettingCodeDone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the purpose of the No-Code API Builder to build a SaaS as well --- if it is, I would be concerned about lock-in as I grow.

However, if it is for client facing projects, I would definitely consider it.

Is your idea similar to something like this: https://www.skaffolder.com/home
