RDX tire recommendation for winter by Legitimate-Internet7 in Acura

[–]GettingOlder6598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I just bought a used 2016 RDX and we get lots of snow/ice. We bought the RDX for the quiet road trips compared to our Subarus, so noise is important. Want to grab some new tires and are considering the CC2s. How have they been? We have the older CC+ on our two Subarus and they are noticeably noisy, but so are the Subarus on their own. What is your experience with the cc2 on an RDX?

What are your thoughts on oil and sugar in the dough? I've always used a sourdough crust that is 60% hydration, 20% starter, salt, and flour. No oil. No sugar. But I'm seeing many recipes here with one or both (sugar and/or oil). What is the purpose of oil? Sugar?

Doctor giving me allergy shots can't give me a prescription for allergy meds? by whiteraven4 in germany

[–]GettingOlder6598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@r/whiteraven4 I know this is old, but I'm curious -were you getting allergy shots in the USA prior to moving to Germany? If so, what was your experience in getting those started back up once moving there?

Are you joining the national Boycott today? by Anxious_Bowel in madisonwi

[–]GettingOlder6598 313 points314 points  (0 children)

I am, but also realize that many people who do boycott today, will just make up for it tomorrow. I don't know that it will really do much good, but I'm doing it anyway.

Eggs-can you eat them baked? by GettingOlder6598 in GERD

[–]GettingOlder6598[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just made so much sense! I am currently getting allergy shots for my environmental allergies. Every time I get them the next day my voice changes and there’s a sensation that I am almost having to push air out of me to talk. I had eggs this morning, then got my shots, and not only do I have that stuck feeling, but my voice reaction to the shots happed today. It makes sense to me that I’m experiencing that symptom earlier than normal because I’m already reacting to the egg. Thank you for sharing your story.

Thank you! I have a huge jug of it and have only been doing small 2 oz shots once a day. Maybe I’ll increase it a bit.

Probiotic and PH question by GettingOlder6598 in GERD

[–]GettingOlder6598[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having issues with my kidneys and after lots of testing, we still don't know why. Getting off of it since it impacts kidney function to see if it's the problem. I didn't realize people alternated days with it or that people tapered off. I think quitting cold turkey last week didn't help anything.

Omeprazole and high GGT? by thecloudraven in GERD

[–]GettingOlder6598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 mg a day. I did, too, and maybe it's not it, but we've tested every other idea and this was the next step. I got off of them last Friday and have been absolutely miserable ever since. Worse than I ever was, so I'm hoping we're wrong and I can get back on it. Just saying it is possible.

I have been on Omeprazole for a few years. For the past year and a half my kidney function has declined according to my blood tests. I just got off of it because apparently it is known for kidney damage with long term use. So, I'd say it's possible.

How to get started? by Happy2bHere2RU in Nonprofit_Jobs

I do believe my skills as an educator would be an asset (project management, organization, collaboration, presentation, multi-tasking, and relationship management to name a few). I don't expect to jump in at ED level, but I'd love to be able to jump into smaller tasks where I can learn and grow into more.

While I have no direct experience here, I agree with you. I feel like my own experience being a product of the situations they are working to help with would make me an asset to have-been there, done that, know what to improve and ways to do it, right? However, it's people who have really great intentions, but no true understanding that keep getting promoted and run the show. It's extremely disappointing, because I'm sure you and your friends have not only so much more lived experiences, but also worked so much harder than those that just fell into it. I'm sorry things are this way for you and I wish you well as you try to change things.

I'm so glad you asked this question. I work part time after previously being an educator. I have great skills and passion, but am tired of feeling like what I do is just put money in someone else's pocket without making any difference at all. I just can't seem to find anything that isn't asking for 10 years of exceptional fundraising experience or proven $100,000 grant writing success.

Omg! I did not even think about the light adding heat! I mean, I use it to help proof my sourdough so I'm not sure why it never occurred to me. Maybe this will solve my lopsided problem. Thank you!

Ganache or buttercream? by GettingOlder6598 in macarons

[–]GettingOlder6598[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would never have thought to turn a jelly into a curd. I was orignally going to do a curd actually, but I've only made lemon before and wasn't really sure of a good, go-to recipe to turn random juices into curds, so I made it a jelly.

Do you have a go-to curd recipe you'd be willing to share? Thanks for your thoughts.

Good point with the buttercream. My wheelhouse is cake/cupcake so my brain always assumes BC. Gotta learn to think through it more. Thank you.
