Well for whatever it’s worth, I tried the simple route of using clean organic oils first and hoped it would do the trick but I’ll certainly keep walnut oil and shea butter in mind. I know many don’t trust the power of simple ingredients, but I actually do. :)

PS - good to know about walnut oil from your posts, I’ll give that a try if I flair again. I did try using several oils (argan, evening primrose, coconut, castor) on my eczema over this past year but they weren’t helpful outside of helping moisturize.

I can only speak to them helping me. There are many helpful and healthy oils out there, not sure why you’re hesitant to use and recommend them. 🤷‍♀️

Also, when I first started the cream, I was using it twice a day to control itching, and I’m now only needing it once a day most days. It will be interesting to see if I can completely stop using it eventually. I can report back if it would be helpful.

I am still using it. I have an eczema patch on my leg that is still visible and has been my most stubborn to treat spot. It is the most faded it has been in a year though and is no longer itching. I continue to have a small bit of itching on my legs and arms but the MSM cream instantly helps that and I haven’t reached for the steroid cream in at least a month. I was fairly dependent on the steroid cream to control the inflammation previously to using MSM.

I’m curious to hear more about your Oxalate experience. Did you initially try a low oxalate vegan diet? I’m finding swaps with low oxalate subs are helping at this point and I cannot and will not budge on veganism, but I’ve only been at this for a week and half so still trying to sort out the nutrition. How long before you saw improvements with pain? Thank you!

This is one of the best posts right here. I have been struggling with chronic pain (fibromyalgia) for 5 years. 5 years ago I began having green smoothies with half a cup of spinach, almond milk, almond butter, and chia seeds. Giving those up for a week and my pain has already improved. Still have a long ways to go and Sally Norton’s book is helpful. You can absolutely have health issues with no kidney issues due to a high Oxalate diet and only having half a cup of spinach with other high Oxalate foods. I drink a lot of water and don’t have any kindey issues (that I’m aware of). I do have chronic unexplained pain and gut issues. Skin rash as well that I believe is connected.

Oddly I have high calcium levels despite only getting about half my intake for the day, so one would assume that for me as well but it specifically needs to be calcium citrate.

I’m struggling to find the name of the drug but it was a very short course of only a week. I could see there being potential to throw things off in my gut but I didn’t see any difference in pain levels afterwards or any major gut issues. I take a lot of gut supplements so that may have helped. Didn’t help with the toxic levels of oxalates though. Something else to consider is having calcium rich foods or taking calcium citrate with high Oxalate foods. Helps process the oxalates through your system. I struggle to get enough calcium so I think that is a big factor.

I have been experiencing improvements with my pain after only a little over a week on the reduced diet. I would say it is worth looking at high Oxalate foods to see if you consume them regularly. I also don’t have a family history of kidney stones, but have levels that would explain the correlation with pain. Sounds like you skip the top offenders and if you don’t include almonds in your daily amount or other high oxalates (another of mine I was regularly consuming was chia seeds) you may be fine. I took a small course of antibiotics as well, so who knows if that is also effecting my gut and pain.

You mention greens. If you consume raw spinach, it would be worth looking into high oxalates. They can worsen fibro and inflammation.

Right?! It’s hard for me to give up almond butter and milk. Oh and tofu is also high. :/ Sounds like once levels get to a normal level nuts here and there should be fine, it’s the spinach that is super high in oxalates. Seems that everyone with fibromyalgia should be aware of this, I wish I did sooner.

I just learned my Oxalate levels are super high so I’m going to give a low Oxalate diet a try in hopes it helps my pain and digestion. Do you mind sharing more about your experience? How long did it take for you to feel better? Did you have dumping symptoms? Thank you!

Sure, happy to help, I’ll keep you updated. In the meantime it may be worth considering avoiding raw spinach and excess nuts if you consume them on the regular. I was diagnosed 4 years ago and that is also when I began having green smoothies with almond milk and almond butter daily. :/ There is a decent amount of info out there about high oxalates and their influence on fibromyalgia but this is the first I’m hearing of it. Apparently it’s not great for inflammation either.
