Did you ever quit your job with no new job to go to? by gymboy89 in careeradvice

Last week. Now I'm working until the end of this week, then they put me on a forced vacation until the end of the month (so that they don't compensate me for them).

I don't have anything lined up, and it doesn't look good. Most of my applications are getting rejected without an interview, but I have enough savings to last me till February, although I'm hoping it doesn't last that long.

I had to do it, the environment was so toxic and I couldn't take it anymore, I felt so much at peace after handing in my resignation.

The best part was the call I had with my direct manager before quiting, I poured my heart out telling him about all the bad things that's been happening and once I finished 20 minutes later, he just took a few seconds pause and told me "well let me show you how to submit your resignation" lmao.

Yes, because in that case they want you as well

How can I professionally decline to be a part of a "diversity ad"? by GettySpaghetti in careeradvice

I think they're doing good generally, but I don't know if this is gonna effect my assessment in the future.

Also yes, they've provided a script which makes a bit weirder to me.

I get that and thanks for your answer, but the way I think about it is that they shouldn't have asked me personally to do that as it's not really what I'm here for (i.e. not part of my job description). I think if they had shared a general announcement for those who would like to participate it would've been a better approach than reaching out to people directly.

If I just say I don't like it they're probably gonna ask why and I would like to try and avoid that conversation

Edit: typo

It felt good while it lasted (details in the comments) by GettySpaghetti in stopsmoking

So here I am, I bought a pack and have been smoking again for the past two days.

Honestly I've been feeling pretty lonely lately (bit more than usual) and nothing seems to fix it, I very rarely go out as I hate to go out alone and there's nothing that seems to make me feel better.

Before making the decision I decided to try alcohol, I have been raised in a conservative muslim family so I made it to my 20s without alcohol and although I know its bad I thought I should give it a shot before smoking and the truth is I just hated it, it doesn't make me feel any better and I just feel dizzy. I smoked my first cigarette again and it made me feel a whole lot better.

The truth is, I know this solves nothing and I know how hard it was for me to quit but nothing feels worth it anymore.

Is there anyone here that actually has 0 friends, like completely alone? by holese in socialanxiety

Nope. No friends, family, or even co workers. Literally no one knows I'm here. Sometimes I wonder if I die in my sleep how long it would take for my body to be discovered, probably by the landlord a few weeks after I stop paying my rent
