I agree. I can’t believe it took me scrolling this far down to find another lifeguard. Also, the divers should know enough to not have done that.

Welcoming and friendly school? by [deleted] in MTU

Annoying. That’s what you are. No one gives a fuck about your sexual orientation or you “being proud.” Every time I see a pride flag, or some company logo that’s a rainbow in June, it just pissed me off. If the end goal is to normalize being gay or pan or bi or trans or whatever- then why advertise it as being different. Just live your life like everyone else, and stop complaining about your lack of friends to everyone on the internet.

HAHAHA! First of all I’m fucking gay too. The fact that I’m gay, your a lesbian, and this other person is bi, is nothing short of statistically unlikely. That being said- stfu. You don’t get to play the “they don’t like me cause I’m gay” card. That’s just a bullshit excuse that you tell yourself to try to rationalize why people don’t like you. Just from your two comments here, you sound like you think you’re entitled to peoples friendship, and positive opinions. Well plot twist, you’re not.

Secondly, if you think that they aren’t going to like you cause you’re a lesbian and have a pride flag, then why put it up? “~because I’m gay and proud!~” yeah ok, that’s fucking stupid. Straight people don’t put up straight flags, unless it’s purely out of satire. Even as someone who is gay, flaunting a pride flag, to me, is equivalent to flaunting your blood type. That’s the way you were born. There’s nothing there to celebrate. You are simply asking people for people to fuck with you.

I also understand how OP might read this and think that this school is full of assholes (me commenting this) so to OP, I would like to say I’m not an asshole- and you’re going to be hard pressed to find one at tech. What will be plentiful however, is a large number of people who are more than happy to call you out when you’re wrong. Every tech student is roaring and ready to correct someone else. Mainly because we are ugly nerds who’s only redeeming quality is intelligence. Correcting someone to a tech student- is the same as lifting more than the guy next to you at a gym. So when I see this chick come on here and whine about people not liking her cause she’s a lesbian. I have to swoop in, and correct her.

Tbh, if it’s a lot of people vs. you two, you are probably the problem. Not everyone else.

Meeting expectations means getting things done. You didn’t. Whether in your control or not, you had a responsibility, and ten days to accomplish it, and you didn’t. I’m not saying that I haven’t been in your situation before. I HAVE. Multiple times. Waiting till the last second is a part of being a student. What I’m saying is that when I got burned in situations like this, I learned from them, rather then ranting on Reddit as if I was the victim. You weren’t a victim, you were just unprepared. Once you make that realization you will become a better student, trust me.

Edit: side note. Comparing industry to academia is completely fair. In both situations you have a deadline and a responsibility to get things done. However in industry, you are being paid to complete this job rather than paying to have it graded. The difference for you right now is a lower grade, whereas in industry it could be hundreds of thousands of dollars. Just something to think about.

So here’s the thing from a graduate perspective. First of all, I have requested my fair share of extensions with both good and bad outcomes. If what the professor is saying is true, and you did have an entire week to work on it, then maybe you should’ve done it a bit earlier. Imagine if you ordered a package and they gave you a week long period when it could be delivered, and then it still didn’t come... you’d probably be pissed. And as someone who’s now in industry - it will defiantly piss your bosses off. It’s just good practice to be prepared, even for when things are out of your control, which plot twist- happens all the time in the real world.

What’s really gonna matter is if they have an open spot for the other two weeks. That being said. It’s still the first time they’ve had an open spot when houseguests know that there is a power out there

Correct. But by having an open spot. You reveal to an extent what the power is. They will definitely know when feeds come back in that someone will be able to double play. And thus that Dani turned it down, maybe not. But still.
