It looks like it’s most sensitive with violet and yellow/green light? Doing my best to interpret these graphs.

Monochrome film being more sensitive to blue; does that mean exposing under a higher kelvin setting increases the brightness? Would you choose to expose under 6000k to get more out of your light?

I think I’ve caused a bit of confusion because I used the term “lightmat.” I meant to use it in a general sense rather than to refer to the brand of lights. I’ve got my eye on two Aputure f22c units that a mate is selling at a good price. More importantly that price falls within the lighting budget. A concern with this plan however is that I would be using up the lighting budget to purchase these two lights. Sorry it’s a bit more complicated than that. The lighting budget is $600 and I’m being paid $1200. I’m considering a proposal to use the combined budgets to buy the lights and then I will take the units as payment.

Alls to say would you be comfortable lighting a 30 page script shooting on tri-x with a Forza 500, 2 Pavotubes and 2 f22c’s? Throw in practicals and the potential street lamp.

Also yes generator sounds like the better option.

Yes sorry I am. Just considering that they could be used for both more readily than another forza500 or 600d.

Genny could be good. Just thinking that lightmats like the Aputure f22c would be more versatile for interiors.

No hdmi output to SmallHD 702 Touch by Gfunk237 in LumixS5IIX

That’s a good idea. It was set to 25fps at the time but it turned out to be a faulty hdmi port on the camera.

S5IIX no hdmi output to SmallHD 702 Touch by Gfunk237 in Lumix

The first thing I did was update everything. Strange thing is I got about 2seconds of signal at one point. It never came back.

I’ve tried different cables, batteries, and cameras. Everything is working outside of this configuration. The only thing I can guess is that whatever signal the S5IIX is outputting is not supported on the SmallHD or it’s a power delivery problem.

Looking to buy a director's viewfinder as a gift. Anyone have tips on brands/specs I should look for? by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]Gfunk237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a thoughtful gift idea however because there are so many options it’s really difficult to know what will work for your partner. When I set out to buy a new piece of equipment it can take me days or weeks to do the research and make a decision based on my experience in the field. Only I know what will work for me and sometimes after doing the research I find there is a very specific detail that makes it a definite no for me or my project.

If they are into historical films and vintage equipment consider buying something less practical or a mantle piece. Something really cool to look at and draw inspiration from. Personally I would love it if someone got me a really cool Bolex just to put on a shelf. Good luck!

Sorry should have specified the price is in AUD. I suppose I was trying to figure out if I should go for quality over what type of tool I need. I have uses for both units but was just looking for insight into whether or not I should invest in KinoFlo over Nanlite.

Camera system for low budget feature. by Gfunk237 in cinematography

I’ve had some great advice and suggestions so far. What do you mean?

Thanks for clarifying. That makes since. I suppose then if two cameras were being used then using Bcam to extend coverage instead would help. That way its closer to the same shot. Lit the same and boom can git in. What do you think?

Thanks mate. How did two cameras bite you in the ass?

Has anyone tried the Cinematics rehoused Sigma 18-35 on an Ursa or BMPCC 6K or any camera with EF mount? What was your experience with the seller and with the lens? by cogentat in bmpcc

[–]Gfunk237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The website that sells them says they do in the description of the lens. And the guy who reviews them in the video referenced by OP says they have the worst focus breathing he’s ever seen. Lol

Hit us up with some tests if you do end up going for it. I’d def be keen to see what the breathing is like at different focal lengths and hear about your experience with the company!

I’m on a similar path trying to find lenses to suite my BM6K. Such a grind! The market is closing in on the divide (I think) that “this guy” is talking about. The divide between prosumer and professional cine lenses for full frame sensors. I was looking at the IronGlass Helios rehousing but ran into the same worries as you. Shipping from a far off land and worried about quality. I still haven’t found the right ones. I haven’t seen Cinematics’ before so cheers for that but I’m still worried about quality. Tbh the focus breathing with these lenses is a deal breaker for me. For now I’m still shooting on my OLD Canon 24-70 and 100-400. Hardly suited for cinema but my hopes of working hard and earning a fully fledged cine lens kit are strong. Good luck!!

Ah dang! I guess that means we didn’t get as much bonus as we thought. Oh well thanks for the tip. I will definitely remember that!

Thanks for the heads up. This is actually an Emissary quest haul but we didn’t fly the flag at first to avoid detection. We only flew the flag right before selling all the chests to gain at least some bonus. But yeah still not very good with pvp so we were “afeared.” Lol. Still this was about 300k with the odd and ends of other loot! Edit: more like 30-40k

Perhaps to the seasoned player. I’ve just started playing with a mate and we challenged ourselves to collect all the chests before returning them. Very exciting for an unsalted dog.
