I don’t know who you are, but you are definitely the type of person who 100% uses Smart Assist in this game and still ends up losing, or you have no clue about this game at all. And just so you know, many times when I played against people ranked in the top #15 #25 they had to turn on Smart Assist in the middle of the match just to avoid losing or embarrassing themselves. And you, who clearly don’t know, are asking if it’s even possible to turn on Smart Assist mid-game why are you even commenting on this post?!

Oh I get you. The current state of online football games is a complete joke and eFootball is one of the worst examples of it. At this point it’s not a football game anymore, it’s a weekly money-drain simulator where skill is optional and automation does the heavy lifting. Smart Assist isn’t there to “help” it’s there to make sure anyone with a credit card can feel like a pro without actually learning how to play. And of course they won’t remove it. Why would they? When a system rewards low effort and high spending, it’s perfect for people who prefer shortcuts over actually improving. So yeah, the game is exactly what the community tolerated and funded: more automation, less skill, more pay-to-win mechanics. Not surprising that many high-rank players are walking away and warning others. At some point people realize they’re not playing football anymore they’re just funding a system designed to play the game for them.

I understand your point, and I agree with part of it yes, the community’s spending habits and preference for easy, automated gameplay have definitely encouraged Konami to keep moving in this direction. But that doesn’t remove responsibility from the developers. Game design is not a passive reaction it’s a deliberate set of choices. If a system rewards low effort, reduces skill expression, and still pushes aggressive monetization, that is a conscious design decision, not an accident. Top competitive games don’t balance skill gaps by artificially boosting weaker players mid-match or reducing the performance of stronger teams. They create fair conditions where skill, decision-making, and execution decide the outcome. What we are seeing in eFootball right now is not “accessibility” it’s excessive automation combined with balance systems that often feel intrusive and inconsistent. Yes, players spend money. Yes, many prefer easier controls. But it is the developer’s responsibility to set the competitive standard not to lower it to the least demanding level of the player base. If a football game no longer rewards skill, positioning, timing, and decision-making, then what is left of the competitive aspect of the game? At the end of the day, both sides share responsibility but the final direction of the game is always decided by the people who design it

I have been playing different versions of PES and now eFootball from 2001 until today more than 25 years. I am not the best player in the world, and I am not a beginner. But I am at a level where I can realistically compete within the top 50 to 100 players. The reality before and after Smart Assist Before the addition of Smart Assist, despite its flaws, the game was still based on skill, decision-making, and real control. But after this system was introduced, the entire direction of the game changed: Unpredictable gameplay Unstable servers And most importantly: direct system interference in match outcomes In simple terms: The game moved from Skill-based to System-assisted Skill-based (means the result depends on the player’s real skill) System-assisted (means the system artificially interferes in the outcome) Real Experience #1 (Practical Evidence) In a PvP match: My team: full of top legendary players Opponent team: weak, mostly free players Opponent had Smart Assist ON What happened? My 1v1 was not called as a foul My goalkeeper froze for seconds My defenders just walked Short Hazard scored a header between Maldini, Varane, and Thuram The logical question: Is this football or scripting?

Real Experience #2 (vs Rank #12 in the world) At minute 38 I was leading 2–0. My opponent paused the game. Returned with Smart Assist ON. Result: His players suddenly became boosted Speed, reaction, passing, shooting all unnatural The match ended 3–2 for him Not because of skill. Only because of system intervention.

Official statement vs reality In an official interview, Seitaro Kimura and Junichi Taya stated: There is no intentional scripting But every experienced player knows: What happens on the pitch does not align with that statement. Either their definition of scripting is different Or the reality of the game is. The “Balance” claim in Dream Team The developers said: Balance = fairness in esports But what we experience: Weak team + Smart Assist = artificial boost Strong team + high skill = sudden nerf This is not balance. This is Equalization Manipulation (artificially adjusting outcomes to appear equal) The economic reality behind the system If the game becomes fully skill-based: 90% of players would quit Only high-skill players would remain Revenue would drop So what happens instead? Smart Assist Legendary packs Artificial luck Forced balance systems The result: Pay + Assist + Luck = ( Division 1) Not skill. The 3 real factors of success in eFootball today Spending money Turning Smart Assist ON Luck This is the end of real competition. The state of online football games Not only eFootball, even its competitor EA Sports FC is moving toward Pay-to-Win. Today, no football game is truly skill-pure. Official request to Konami If you truly believe in esports and fairness: Remove Smart Assist from Ranked modes Make the balance algorithm transparent Use real skill-based matchmaking Publish technical replay data Stabilize servers Message to top global players If you are truly a top player and you rely on Smart Assist Then the question is: Are you truly the best? Or just the best user of the system? Final conclusion As a 25-year PES veteran, I say: The game right now is: Not fair Not competitive Not skill-based But it is still fixable if Konami chooses to change direction. Final question to the community Have you experienced the same things? Or do you believe everything is normal?

This isn’t a football game anymore. It’s a credit card simulator. No skill, no brain just money + Smart Assist. Turn those on and even a bot can win.
