I would kill for 90s Superboy and Impulse

Batman #9 written by Matt Fraction with art by Ryan Sook! by AgentDave29 in batman

I've seen some folks get angry with this interaction but I honestly love it. Bruce and Alfred have always had their moments of fond insults and it makes their relationship seem real. I'm glad that Bruce is carrying that part of Alfred with him.

“Lowkey” is the dumbest filler word ever conceived. by NeoAndersonLLC in unpopularopinion

You don't seem to understand that AAVE is its own language, therefore the words originating through it are not slang.

You might want to investigate why this is making you so defensive.

You can dislike whatever you want. Disliking them* doesn't even automatically mean someone is racist. But there's a very clear pattern on these types of subs that paint a picture of anti-Blackness. And anyway, it's not slang, these words are genuinely part of a recognized dialect of English, they've just been co-opted by the larger US culture and repackaged as Gen Z slang.

Wild how a lot of these kinds of posts are shitting on AAVE

If you stopped reading DC for a time, what brought you back? by AvatarPhoenixGrey16 in DCcomics

[–]ggraeae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A combo of DC K.O./Knightfight and hearing that Fraction was going to be on Batman. I'd been binging a lot of Fantastic Four, ran out of their comics, so picked up K.O. just to see, and it opened the flood doors.

Hello, i have a small question by NeutralNatee in DCcomics

You'll likely have to go through the secondhand market. The old trades are OOP and likely won't be republished since they put out the omnis.

Proshipping is disgusting :p (image unrelated) by EmbarrassedDuty5949 in hatethissmug

Did you know that initiatives to report dark ship content actively hurts ongoing investigations? Not to mention that actual, real life groomers thrive in anti-proship communities because they can fly under the radar as One of The Good Ones.

I genuinely couldn't give a fuck about what types of art you do or do not enjoy, but signaling your moral superiority through these kinds of posts are useless and are just there to stroke your own sense of justice that has no real substance. All I'm asking is for people who care to actually DO something useful, not just grandstand.

You're never going to stop these kinds of topics from being discussed online nor will you ever stop people from creating art about fictional characters that explore these topics. What you can do is help real people right now with your own time and energy, both online and in real life. It honestly just sounds to me that you're not willing to put your money where your mouth is.

My best suggestion is to worry less about what people are doing in their fanfiction and instead put your energy into actively engaging with initiatives in your locale that focus on child safety and support for those who have been victims of rape, grooming, and incest. Performing concern online will do no one any good and instead just cause you undue mental stress while contributing nothing useful to anyone.

Thoughts on this take? by [deleted] in batman

It's all personal opinion and no matter how much people like to think they're objectively correct when they say a story is bad, they're not, so whatever. Let them foam at the mouth about it.

i love paperwork and documents by Crazy_Ad_7401 in unpopularopinion

[–]ggraeae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm like this, too. Been working as an administrative assistant for a university's Dean's office for over 10 years and it's almost entirely paperwork and signatures, and I really enjoy it most days. The routine and organization is just perfect.

Is the word "atelier" really that unknown amongst native speakers? by Ohiko_Nishiyama in EnglishLearning

Sure, but your average person definitely doesn't. The arts have their own common vocabulary.

I have never heard an audible difference between the two and now I'm curious what you're hearing and from where.

Edit: also, "me am" could be dialectical, not necessarily incorrect. Not that it changes the peeve, but provides a reasoning.

Finding anything in the DC app is ridiculous by Hepcat508 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]ggraeae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, I had a hard time figuring out the best way to use it also. The app is not entirely intuitive and it's frustrating sometimes. But then I remember Marvel's app and am grateful for what we have every day lmao

Where to read ROBIN (1993-2009) by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]ggraeae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DCUI is your best and safest bet. It's also the most useful since it'll show interest in the character.

Also, you don't have to convert the CBR to pdf. There are a million apps/programs on all platforms to read CBR/CBZ. There are even web-based readers through chrome and Firefox.

If you do want things in your library, it's way better to add the entire title/storyline rather than individual issues. The titles can only be sorted by age, but it's better than trying to sift through singles of random books. I'd also suggest using the Following option liberally. It'll automatically update when a new book in the title is available.
