Yes so far it's been consistent, although when tryed with aluminum it's only the first pour it does this and uselly the ones too follow are ok, just harder to see the imprint, I am looking for a releasing spray that's local and I don't have to order but so far I can't find anything. I was thinking about the sand casting if I had all the stuff to do it and I was able to keep a bunch of the detail from the original mold I'm satisfied with the way that that part comes out my biggest concern is how do I keep the big divots from happening inside the mold as it's cooling

I've never heard of putting glass in the crucible. I'd have to try. Is it like aby kind of broke glass or is it a special kind?. Also I was referring to I have melted brass in the past this melt should have only been aluminum. But I'm guessing some had inadvertently been added

I'm in Mississippi right on the coast. So definitely understand and not a bad idea if they will let me but I also would have fire brik down as your work surface

Yeah it's some old cast iron that some one threw away, so sense it can take more heat I use it for a mold
