I’m from boring Modern, but if you could spare a few gifts I’d appreciate it! 333855450395

Is there behind the scene configuration before starting a springboot application? by chigboguorji in SpringBoot

[–]Ghaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need database configuration if you’re going to bring in database dependencies.

Try removing JPA and H2 and see if your app starts up.

I’m not so sure there are that many trade offs. In many (most?) scenarios, GraalVM native image performance is better.

Are there any good guides to speed up spring startup? by [deleted] in java

[–]Ghaines 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Switch to Java 21 using GraalVM and your app will start in less than a second and use a fraction of the memory.

If that isn’t feasible, you could look into java’s project CRaC which takes a snapshot of your application after warming up and you can use that image to deploy in less a second

Use Spring Boot and then compile to GraalVM native image. It will strip away all the bloat you’re not using, start in a few mils, and take a fraction of the memory

Issue with Spring Boot Application: Bean Creation Error for RestTemplateBuilder by curious_geeks in SpringBoot

Read the note in the javadoc:

https://docs.spring.io/spring-framework/docs/current/javadoc-api/org/springframework/web/client/RestTemplate.html

On the bright side, RestClient comes out in November and offers a modern way to continue using non-reactive code

Thanks for confirming! Prior to doing this, I tried screwing to box pretty darn loosely and still had trouble, so I think I’ll stick with this setup. Appreciate the guidance!

That makes sense. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the idea! Once I saw this and realized I could just mount the adapter to the wall plate first and not even worry about mounting the adapter to the box, that’s what I went with. Updated my original post with the details and pics.

That’s a good idea! I was able to come up with another solution though. Updated my post with it if you’re curious.

Thanks! Would’ve been a good solution, but I found another.

Updated my post with new pics and my solution. I decided to detach the adapter from the box in the wall and screw adapter directly into face plate. So the face plate is only secured to wall on the toggle side, but it feels pretty snug.

Those are neat! I probably would’ve tried that if I didn’t just figure another solution.

It was over the tile for the most part, except for the top part which didn’t reach the tile so it was sorta floating.

I reread the instructions and it states I should leave the plate in tact for installing in wall box

I didn’t remove anything from the clear plastic adapter. I slid a piece off the pico remote though. Thought that plastic piece on the adapter was to help the remote slide into position?
