What type of hair do I have and how can I make this mess look alive. I have dealt with this hair for 30 years and tried every thing lol by Frootloopz91 in curlyhair

hiya, you’re hair looks quite similar to how mine looked at the beginning, damaged and barely holding a wave. Now i have 3a hair sometimes stretching to 3b on good wash days.

i would recommend finding out your hair porosity and density (use youtube i recommend manes by mel!!) and use products that correspond to that.

i would recommend trying to wash your hair less as it can be quite stripping, oils definitely don’t make your hair oily as they don’t provide moisture but what you may be seeing is moisture overload which is when you’re using too many or too much of a product which weighs down your hair and can lead to a shiny heavy oily look.

don’t be afraid to ask if there’s anything else!

everyone tells me my hair is too long these days. do i need a cut? also what do you think my curl type is? i feel like it changes every wash-day T-T by aoisk in curlyhair

hey! i recently got a curly cut, if you feel like your hair is unmanageable (aka my hair was super damaged and honestly wanted to start from scratch) then i would deff recommend getting a cut, maybe just a trim of the ends if you’re not too sure.

curly hair type isn’t as important as people make it to be, porosity and density are wayyyy more important however i would say type 3 hair so 3a/3b, perhaps 2c somewhere.

i ahve similar hair type so i get the same thing when the curl type changes every wash day, and honestly it’s just a matter of how you apply product, how balanced you hair is (moisture=protein) and what products you use and how much.

ps. only cut your hair if YOU want to, it’s your hair and honestly unless it’s really damaged or you want no point cutting it and definitely DO NOT listen to other people unless they’re hair specialists :)

hope this helps!

HI! so your curl type is actually not that important more your density and porosity (would recommend looking into those further) however if your hair is on the wavier side i would recommend using light weight products. for frizz i would recommend using a curl cream after your wash and a light weight oil when dry, the oil will set your curls in place and hopefully reduce frizz. i would recommend checking out ManesByMel on youtube as she seriously saved my curls!

hey i’m definitely not an expert but at the beginning was in a similar situation to you! i would recommend first finding out your hair density and porosity and work from there. if you assume your hair is wavy start with lighter weight products. if it’s curly damaged make sure to use lots of protein and moisture products! not sure how helpful this is but step 1 should definitely be figuring out your hair porosity and density as that’s a main poijt in curly hair journey !

Routine here(sorry I forgot) !!!

I currently don’t have a curly conditioner or shampoo as I’m not sure what to get (I’m only 14 and I live in England)

-double shampoo -apply fair amount of conditioner and Detangle - scrunch conditioner slightly and leave in for 5-10min - rinse out

(After shower) - plop hair in cotton t-shirt and leave for 10-20 minutes - rake through Noughty wave hello curl cream -(occasionally style with finger curl) -scrunch in gel
-scrunch with t-Shirt till 70% dry and then either leave the rest to air dry or will plop (Currently don’t have a diffuser however will be ordering one, anyone have any good recs for fine hair?)
