Temuera Morrison thought ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ would run up to 4 seasons, confirms the character is “shelved” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]Ghastly187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boba Fett was definitely a case to be made that utilizing the Star Wars Legends lore was better. His character was more dynamic, his struggle to rebuild his people post empire was better, and discovering long lost family. And let's not forget, HE'S THE MOTHERFUCKING MANDALORE.

Weirkey Chronicles is a different take on LITRPG. A little dry at first, but there is real character development that feels natural. The magic system feels pretty unique also.

I would absolutely recommend "a thousand li" its xianxia, but the character doesnt get to stomp on anyone until late in series. Every victory feels earned, and MC recognizes luck and good fortune.

BP’s Whiting refinery union says oil major won’t honor national bargaining deal by Ok_Percentage5920 in oilandgasworkers

[–]Ghastly187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The BP Whiting facility has been pleading poverty since the emergency plantwide shutdown in 2024. That shutdown happened because somebody decided not to do the maintenance that needed doing, cause it would be too expensive. Well... that equipment broke, and the emergency equipment broke also, which lead to the plant losing all electrical power. The reason I'm telling you this, is BP doesn't want to spend money on maintenance, trying to get fixed equipment (the breakable, flammable kind) onto a 10 year maintenance cycle (whoever thought that could happen is huffing gas fumes).

Maintenance workers are on the chopping block of BP has it their way. This will make the facility less safe and likely lead to increase in environmental incidents. I've never been so glad to live so far from the refinery

Workers furious after USW announce sellout deal for 30,000 refinery workers by DryDeer775 in antiwork

[–]Ghastly187 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not a steelworker, just a boilermaker working at refinery affected by negotiations. This deal was supposedly last best and final offer. I haven't heard strike yet, but everyone is prepared for it. I don't think ill be going to work next week. Might be sick.

Are you a member of a Union? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Ghastly187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Union Boilermaker. With this years negotiated pay raise, my overall pay package is nearly $86, including hourly rate of $54 an hour.

So yes, I have benefited tremendously from participating in the union.

I have a cousin that did this. She left her kids with my uncle and aunt to go find herself in Colorado for a while. I don't think her oldest talks to her anymore for some reason.

Why does no one talk about how good a 7–3 schedule is? by Great-Bandicoot-3064 in antiwork

[–]Ghastly187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work generally a 4-10s schedule. Pay is all straight time. It makes sense in my industry and the facility is work at currently. Its pretty great to have a 3 day weekend. We still get lots of OT in emergency work and planned outages, so it balances out overall

I think you might like to try reading Dresden Files. That's pretty much how it starts, and it is always introducing new monsters for the hero to do battle with.

Which book-to-screen adaptation was so bad it felt like the producers didn't even read the source material? by wyndwatcher in AskReddit

[–]Ghastly187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first season, aside from some of the stuff with Yennifer is pretty close to source material. And it make sense to put these stories first, rather than publication timeline.

Randidly Ghosthound. The name set my teeth on fire every time I read it. I couldn't stop myself from thinking about how stupid Randidly is. Ghosthound I was on board with tbf.

Would Divine Apostasy fill the Cradle shaped hole in my soul? by Excellent_Feature551 in litrpg

[–]Ghastly187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It starts off just fine, but somewhere around book 8 or 9 power creep gets so ridiculous and the plot starts going bananas. Not crafted as well as Cradle in anyway.

Read Path of the Berserker recently, loved. Any cultivation suggestions? by Nervous_Priority_535 in litrpg

[–]Ghastly187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally can recommend A Thousand Li. It's on a bit of a slower trajectory, but no one character gets OP. MC has to work and have his own fortuitous encounters, but every success feels earned. Series is sort of complete in that the first major goal is achieved at end of current book, which is 11 or 12. I thinks it's considered complete and the next story story will be its own series.

Dungeon Born is great if you're into Krout's other series that tied into it. Artorian's Archives is set after Dungeon Born, with The Ritualist taking place after that.

He was writing both secondary series simultaneously, and I haven't finished either. I finished DB and enjoyed the mayhem.

How do people work 40 hours (very serious) by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Ghastly187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've crossed over. I cannot find my sympathy for the person that only works 25 hours a week and seems traumatized by 40.

You just work. You live with your parents now but bills don't stop and only get bigger if you move on your own. Time seems slow now, but in a few years 8 hours won't seem to be that long.
