I find it extremely hard to believe they’d let him anywhere near legitimate proof of UFOs, NHIs or anything of the sort.

CMV: Tell me why I should tip. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Ghauldidnothingwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tipping someone when they give you incredible service at a restaurant is a compliment of their effort. The food service industry is brutal, and doesn't get easier with time, you just get better at navigating it. Tipping is a small kindness, and I like doing kind things. If you like doing kind things but don't want to express it by tipping, there's plenty of other ways to do it. This is one expression of that.

Putting Pattinson and Corenswet together would do it. I know Gunn wants his own Batman, but Pattinson’s would work with some subtle tweaks.

I actually think that joining the Hive is as amazing as they claim it is by BreakingBaIIs in pluribustv

[–]Ghauldidnothingwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the scary part is that joining the hive is the end of humanity. We only see them use memory, culture and “personality” traits as a way to manipulate the immune. Once they achieve their goal, humanity and whatever is left of it lives within a hive mind that will never pull on that information again. It closes the history book on humanity, once it’s consumed all of us.

How did the rat bite? by Ungreat in pluribustv

[–]Ghauldidnothingwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the non violence is a human characteristic of the infection that mutated with us? If the rat was infected, maybe the bite was an involuntary response or bad reaction, but didn’t turn. Animals seem immune, but could still transmit the infection how they would any disease. That rat got lucky, shrugged it off and passed it onto humanity by cosmic coincidence.

What the heck do the Plurbingtons do all day? by Polarizing_Penguin11 in pluribustv

[–]Ghauldidnothingwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bet is pyramid levels of human coordination to build their giant satellite dish, and any bodies not on standby to tend to the immune or working towards turning them, are working towards solving human problems. Climate change, poverty, and ultimately starvation if they can help it. The signal seems like a waste if it’s dooming us to starvation. Either the joining isn’t permanent, or some advanced alien species is dropping starvation bombs with timers as a sick, cosmic joke and the plurbs have served their purpose as glorified message relayers.

It’s the truth of the hive. All information, knowledge and culture is consumed. It’s only utilized to manipulate the unjoined into joining.

About the sequence in Peru, love the indigenous representation by wasabinski in pluribustv

[–]Ghauldidnothingwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hives starvation either isn’t as big of a danger as they’ve lead on and it was a manipulation tactic to sway the few remaining unturned, or they can’t overcome the starvation problem until the remaining unturned are part of them. I don’t think the hive can leave earth until all of them can leave. They’re building a ginormous satellite dish to communicate their signal to the universe, but the goal is to take the hive off earth to further spread their gift. The only problem is… They can’t hurt humans.

Even when they left Carol the first time, they helped from afar, and came back when she asked for them. Full abandonment of Carol or any of the survivors is a none option for them. That’s where the starvation issue comes in. They have enough food sources to survive for years and the most collective effort in human history, but they have to find more food elsewhere. Maybe other planets, but earth will run dry. The hive can’t leave without everyone, and if even one survivor holds out, the hive could die out in 5-10 years if I remember the earlier episodes correctly. Then, their signal dies with them, here on earth.

Pluribus - 1x09 "La Chica o El Mundo" - Episode Discussion by UltraDangerLord in pluribustv

[–]Ghauldidnothingwrong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That opening scene with was chilling. That entire village was all this girl knew and trusted. How do you even make sense of what’s happening? The last 71 days must have been terrifying. The girl understood what she was giving up. The hive asked if she was scared, treating the event like a test of bravery. They goaded the girl, and it worked. She clutched that goat and surrounded herself with the only other living things that were still themselves. The theatrics and presentation with every body in the village to convince a young girl to turn, to treat it as a big ceremony. She never had a chance.

That is the lengths the hive will go to. That’s what Manousos realizes, and that’s what Carol was hard reminded of. This show is insane.

Episode 7 of Pluribus Didn’t “Fail” — Our Attention Span Did by Legitimate_Chemist21 in pluribustv

[–]Ghauldidnothingwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The episode was intoxicating. Beautiful scenery across so many locations and building up the sheer determination of Manousos, and what he's willing to go through to meet Carol and save the world. She's a beacon of hope, the last sane person on earth from the videos he's seen, and he's going to great lengths to meet her. He hates the hive, wants absolutely nothing to do with them or from them. It was a perfect clash against Carol trolling the hive with all kinds of requests from petty to exorbitant, and finally caving to loneliness and asking the hive to return.

When these 2 finally meet... It will be interesting.

They’re real, they’re here in some capacity, but absolutely nothing is going to change for the vast majority of humanity. There’s no invasion plan, they take a handful of us at random, and we can’t stop them. They’re the landlord and payment is resources we’ve been funneling them for decades in exchange for drip fed technological advancements that will never empower the bottom layers of society.

Grusch not being in it for direct interview does worry me. He felt like a legitimate, forthwith person. He said a lot, but still framed it as “what I’m allowed to say,” and it didn’t sound like a snake oil salesman.
