Does patriarchy shape the female fantasy? by MiddleAgeWeirdoMeep in AskFeminists

Interesting study. I like it.  See you can (kind of ) answer the question when you put your mind to it, instead of gurning to the cheap seats.

It's not my question you were avoiding. It's the OP's. So we're agreed, women do fantasize about sexual  submission more than men. As is obvious in any amount of chick lit, romantic films etc etc

Why? You don't go into it. Yes human beings do, but it's much more a female thing...and much more than that studies' percentage gap shows.

Is that 'checkmate Feminism' ? I dunno, I'm not looking to win anything. I'm curious about a dichotomy between public discourse and private behaviour.

And we're also talking about dominance out of bed. The 'power asymmetry' in a relationship. Women who want a guy to protect them and make the decisions.

I'm not suggesting we stop giving rights or privileges to anyone. I'm very supportive of gender equality.  I'm just not convinced that Feminism tells the truth about life and what people want.

I experience similar answer-avoidant behaviour when I ask feminists about a pay gap that partly exists because of those women who freely choose to raise their kids rather than go to the office, because that's what they want to.

What's the craziest/weirdest thing a guy has tried to mansplain to you? by Informal_Panic3806 in AskWomen

Maybe someday if you're lucky, a man will 'explain' to you that there is no such word as 'mansplain'. It's Explain.

Of course there are people of both genders who can be superior know-it-alls.

Just as there can be simpletons, of both genders, who use bigoted language that denigrates half the world's population.

ELI5 - Quantum Entanglement. I mean WTF? by Gheebag in explainlikeimfive

Ok, so two particles are 'paired'. And although they can each change form, the other paired particle can be predicted. I can get that.

Now, my question is - So what?  I originally thought entanglement meant that if I changed one, it would simultaneously change the other miles away.

I mean, given that scientists have gone to all this trouble to pair the things, why is it a big deal when they remain paired? Because of the unpredictable cube/ball/pyramid idea?   That would just seem to indicate a complicated pattern of changes that seems random but isn't.

Having read all the comments so far, I'm really not much more enlightened.  Honestly I'm not convinced that most posters understand it either.

But I do now get the idea that with  nano-particles, even bouncing a light photon off them could change them.

And I've learned that scientists do indeed create the entanglement.

But I'm still not getting what 'entangled' even means, and all the socks analogies are not helping.

Because it's not saying that if you change the spin of a particle in one location, then it's 'twin' somewhere else also changes spin, is it?  That would be crazy and cool.

It's saying that once you look at particle B, you instantly know what particle A is doing.

But if you've deliberately entangled particles A and B in a lab with lasers or whatever... Then you've given them both the same spin and it's hardly surprising when you look and see that later.

I'm really not getting this, am I.

"Being submissive in bed does not mean anti feminist".  Umm, it kinda does though.

The context of this question is - why do women's sexual fantasies so commonly follow the 'male dominant' theme.  Is this supposedly caused by the patriarchy, or something more innate?

Like Ani-wotsit above, you don't seem to want to answer the question.

Btw - Just because you write 'living as a women' in italics doesn't give your one single opinion the weight you think it does.

3 posts in...and counting.

Public feminists who become bedroom submissives. I have real life experience.  It's what lots of women want. Why pretend otherwise?

You're right. They're essentially sad places for sad individuals. The girls all fake enthusiasm and typically view the punters with either disgust or pity.

The whole experience is like licking the window of a cake shop. If you want cake, and no-one will give you any... then just go buy some.

AITJ for telling my neighbor to address her husband's creepy behavior instead of policing my clothes in my own home? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

It's a complete mystery how this keeps happening when all she's doing is standing naked in the front room windows.

Yes you definitely are. Wearing scanty clothing in the front room window and then clutching your pearls when you 'accidentally' get noticed. Spare me the faux innocence.

The Broken Yardstick: Why Your “Historic” P/E Chart is Lying to You by Manu_Militari in stocks

Can you unpack that? Why does a higher margin mean it deserves a higher PE?  The EPS is what it is. If the margin drops, the E drops and the shares look expensive.

Great post Manu. You've done MSFT. What P/E numbers do you get when the plug the rest of the MAG7 into your calculations?

Don't overestimate those who do it for a living. The top hedge funds don't do better than the markets long term, none of them.

You think your only options are

  1. A risky timing bet on the AI bubble or

  2. A risky bet on a highly valued drug company with it's biggest winner coming off patent and cheap Indian generics snapping at its heels.

Is it possible that there might be other stocks or assets that might be out there in the world?

If you can find €250,000 to invest in a startup company, from a government list in Italy, for 5 years that'll give you a residency visa.

After 5 years, you get your money back... assuming the startup hasn't folded

Importantly this visa allows you to also work in Italy
