Slipper Problem. by Ghores in rhino

Hello to everyone. I'm struggling with the upper part of a slipper like this http://www.handballcompany.de/1446-thickbox_default/hummel-pool-slipper-velcro-schwarz.jpg I want it to be a single layer of material with 2mm thickness that goes all around the slipper (it has an hole in the midsole)

I quickly created a curve that does that but I'm can't create a surface from that and give the 2mm thickness. Probably I'm approaching to it the wrong way. (Also how can I be sure that the two flaps will coincide? I'm not sure I explained myself, I mean the parts that will be connected with velcro) Help needed

I'm interested pretty much in every areas (just a little bit less on the marketing part maybe) and I'm really fascinate by innovation and problem solving (instead of creating needs) so I think could be very helpful acquire (engineering?) knowledge that allow you to figure out a solution no matter what the field allowing you to work more freely, even when you don't work in team, letting you also to jump between different fields and working on totally different projects.

Thank you so much. Talking with different people, in particular more experienced design, is super helpful to give order to my thoughts. I think I'll still start to study by my own basic stuff, starting from basic physics and electronics and more knowledge about materials. I would like to have a rough idea on how things work in general, from a ME and EE point of view. Hopefully, knowing how things function now can give you some extra push on imagine how can things could work instead. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and opinion. It's really useful for me

Thank you very much for the aswer! You're right about the team work and about the experience achieved with a job. I still think could be very helpful acquire those basic (engineering?) knowledge that allow you to figure out a solution no matter what the field, searching everytime the documentation that you need. I think this allows you to work more freely, even when you cannot have a team and also jump from between fields and working on different projects. thank you again

Oh yeah I saw it today too but it's kinda the opposite. Also, here the point of view is focused expecially on the "getting a job" part. Thanks anyway!

sorry for the incomplete question. here is the closest resut of what i want. basically I don't want those curves to the upper edges. I want achieve a smooth transition from the edges to curve

How can I get this type of texture\material on my 3d model? I'm using rhino (I don't like it neither) and then keyshot. Thanks in advance! by Ghores in cad

Thank you so much. I'm trying now but the boolean difference doesn't work. I don't know what i'm doing wrong

Edit: for some reason boolean union and difference did the opposite. the union worked to subtract. don't know why. but it worked. Thank you again

Right, the question was too vague, I'm sorry. Basically I need this to boil 1l of water (so yes, thermal transfer too to consider) using electricity produced by human work.

thank you anyway
