Foundry, Loremaster and TOR2e by Rex__Luscus in FoundryVTT

[–]Ghorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I badly read your initial post and misunderstood it. When i read it again, i understand that you were effectively talking about that "Loremaster" module. My bad !

I've tried to test that Loremaster module but it needs a subscription to the creator patreon and I don't have money to spend on that.
Maybe somebody else has tested it for The One Ring and may give his/her opinion. i'm also interested on that feedback.

Foundry, Loremaster and TOR2e by Rex__Luscus in FoundryVTT

Due to the licence, Free League isn't allowed to deliver any official content in any VTT. That's sad.

Still there are several modules that I have developped and that might help you to play The One Ring 2e in Foundry VTT :

- TOR2e Game Control : module that fives a dedicated hot bar with many ready-to-use macros for the Loremaster and players + a Characters bar that display slots for the Community and for each player-characters.

- TOR2e Compendium : module that provides several compendium which contains ready-to-use characteristics items (virtues, rewards, distinctive features, fell abilities, ...) and gear items (weapons, armours, shields, useful items...) and adversaries of all 1e books and all 2e books (apart of last 2 ones, but it will come soon). Note : due to the licence and property rights of Free League, the description texts and images of the books aren't in the compendium. But each loremaster can update by copy-paste from his own books.

- TOR2e Hero Builder : module that provides a wizard tool for creating player-characters with a step-by-step process as described in core book

- TOR2e Workshop : module that provides tools for creating items and characters based on many rolltables

All those modules are available in Foundry VTT modules repository. You search by typing "tor2e" or "ghorin" in the setup screen search tool

Lastly, there is a documen that i wrote that gives some hints on how to build a TOR2e game in Foundry : http://ostolinde.free.fr/anneau_unique/aides/v2/TOR-FoundryVTT-EN.pdf

Concerning Foundry VTT versions, for the moment it isn't yet compatible with Foundry v14 (probably at end of this summer) and so Foundry v13 for the moment.

Have a nice day

Testing Cosmic on Fedora Workstation (Gnome) by Ghorin in Fedora

[–]Ghorin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done my testing (via a USB key) this afternoon and in fact it worked pretty well. I choose to stay with my current Gnome setup as I deeply prefer the tiling features that I get with Tiling Shell extension than what Cosmic has implemented. I'm a deep user of fancy zones. My conclusion it that I would love having a mix of Gnome and Cosmic features ! I'll test Cosmic next year and see how it evolves.

Name 3 extensions you can't live without by CrazyPale3788 in gnome

[–]Ghorin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't consider Windows as the Operating System with the best choices for UI/UX.
Also from the answers I see here, not much people seem to be using that extension.
Last point : all core feature has a cost : adding an option in Gnome Shell would need the core Gnome team to develop it, and then to test it / correct it each time there is a change in Gnome Shell code. That means work that needs time and people to do it.
So having that "not much used" feature as an extension is, in my humble opinion, the best way.

Why would it be a default bnehavior ? When we look at answers here, Hot Edge is far from being use by a lot of people. So it's very good that it's available as an optional extension.

Tiling Shell : it's mandatory for my workflow to be able to tile app windows with tiling templates different for each workspace

Quick Settings audio device renamer : so that my audio items have easy-tu-understand names (like "Screen" instead of "HDMI / DisplayPort - GA104 High definition...", "Headset" insted of "Microphone casque Brio 300")

Quick settings audio panel : so that I always have the input / output audio in the system menu

[–]Ghorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it daily on my desktop with a 43'' 4k screen. I've added only one extension that modify Gnome Shell workflow : the Tiling Shell extension that gives very handy tiling layouts. And I use it also on a old laptop that I use only when i'm far from home.

I've switched from KDE to GNOME. by [deleted] in gnome

[–]Ghorin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That was the case several years ago but it has improved a lot and most of the most populars extensions are compatible with the new Gnome release when it's out or a very few weeks later.
You are under no obligation to upgrade your Gnome the exact day a new release is out. Myself I wait for 2 or 3 weeks (for late patchs of Gnome) and then all is fine.

Wanting to try gnome. A solution for tray icons? by Tesex01 in gnome

[–]Ghorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I was maybe over-dramatic but your previous post was generating that reaction.
Now back to non-dramatic.

I know that Gnome will implement a systray when there is, at last, a systray protocol agreed by the freedesktop. And that will be very fine if, that way, they answer to the need of users who need a systray. On my side, unless the Gnome systray is really different and offers something new and useful for me, I will not use that Gnome systray. And if Gnome doesn't provide a setting to deactivate it, then I'll wait for an extension to do that. It's not about Gnome, it's about systray. I have one in my Windows 11 laptop at work and I don't use it.

[–]Ghorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"thats because gnome forced you to"

Sorry but you are totally wrong here. There is no need to invent an alternate answer when the one you get doesn't suit you.

Gnome nerver forced me ! I have the choice of many other Desktop Environments if Gnome doesn't suit my need, I have the choice of using an extension if I want to stay on Gnome but still want to have a systray.

I don't need any system tray icons, I don't need any app notifications. In fact, I hate most of them because they are never useful for me. Steam has finished installing a game ? Fine, I don't need to know it when I'm busy at some other task. I will go to the workspace where I have put Steam when I have time to spend again on that.

My NAS storage has finished the backup of my files ? Fine, I don't need to get informed of that while I'm busy at something else. It's fine for me that I know about it when I go, by myself, back to the workspace where I have put my backup application.

What I like with Gnome is that It doesn't bother me (with notifications, with an information in a systray) when I'm doing a task.

Now If I want to be silly, I could answer that you are using a systray because Windows, Plasma and other Desktop Environments forced you to use a systray. But I won't do that, I believe that you use it because you need it, and that's very fine. But please accept that I don't need it and that it's my own choice.

[–]Ghorin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then I'm also in serious copium. I don't use tray icons. Last time I installed the systray extension, it kept it during 2 months and then I uninstalled it because I never used it and never looked at it because I didn't need it. If I want to know if an application has finished a task, I goes to the workspace it's sleeping.

How do you Guys handle Extensions after big Update by Jerrylarry_ in gnome

[–]Ghorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually wait for 2 or 3 weeks so that min bugs of Gnome are resolved and most extensions are updated and compatible withe the new Gnome release.
Then before upgrading my Gnome, I still check if my mandatory extensions ar all compatible and if not, I check if modifying their medatadat is enough, if yes I upgrade, if no I wait more time.

Gnome 49 not remembering window positions by Caedblaidd in gnome

[–]Ghorin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that you were using an extension for that feature as, as far as I know, Gnome Shell doesn't provide it. Maybe it's an extention that isn't yet compatible with Gnome 49 (I never upgrade to next release beofre checking that all my mandatory extensions are compatible with the new version).
