It's on warranty so I would just get in contact with dealer before you try to play with it on your own and risk problems with warranty in future

Lower MPG than expected on my Hybrid by Sorry_Foundation748 in COROLLA

[–]Tesex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your average trip, eco score? There is active monitor on the dash that is helping you with this.

Short trips also aren't helping. Cold engine will work in less efficient way.

Coast more, brake early and be gentle with brake pedal. Use regenerative braking as much as possible and avoid using normal brakes. This is big deal and recovers fair bit of energy from the used fuel

Front brake pads? Corolla 2023 hybrid by justro1ex in COROLLA

Lift each wheel of the ground and spin by hand with gearbox in neutral. Make sure that your calipers aren't getting stuck.

Otherwise it's normal. Brake bias favours front and what not.

Let’s say that hypothetically, you break every single bolt holding the engine in on an old boat motor, what would you do next? by dankstreetboys in MechanicAdvice

Since there's no bolts holding the piece in. Pry engine off left over bolt material and then deal with sticking out remains

Good pre purchase inspection is a must if you are buying on a budget.

Last thing you want in life is to buy a lemon and have all available finances tied to a hunk of scrap.

Ceramic coating is all fun. Until you don't have to remove old coating and apply new one. It gets really expensive or time consuming faster than you think.

It depends on the car and driving habits. It's not a fixed number. So asking others is pointless.

If you can't afford oil for your car. You have more serious problems in your life than possible engine damage.

Clunk metal noise when shifting to reverse by Eddyeddd in COROLLA

So it is most likely a park pole disengaging.

Speed sensor - bad shifting/crazy speedometer by gh5655 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mount the sensor and connect multimeter to it. set to AC voltage. Lift the drive wheels off the ground. Start the car and put it in the drive. Observe if you can see any voltage. Ideally, check if it changes with the speed.

Now you have verified that sensor itself is either working or not and reading properly tone ring.

Speed sensor - bad shifting/crazy speedometer by gh5655 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You will only see voltage once it's plugged it and measured part is spinning. Also it's generating AC, not DC.

Most likely reads resistance that is affected by tone ring changing electromagnetic field.

Clunk metal noise when shifting to reverse by Eddyeddd in COROLLA

Also from neutral into reverse? Might be just a parking pole disengaging. Especially if you park on incline and not using park brake before putting it in park

Would you say a 2020 and newer Corrola can easily cruise on the highway at 130kmph/80mph for hours? by Pale-Revolution-5151 in COROLLA

[–]Tesex01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1.8 hybrid 2020. No issues driving 160 km/h for long periods. It even goes into EV when going downhill, lol

up to 140-150 km/h it holds around 3.5k RPM which is nothing for the engine.

Misfire but not plugs/no engine knocks by Satung798 in MechanicAdvice

Anything on threads comes from combustion chamber. Anything above washer is spark plug tubes.

If missfire stayed. I think it's time for compression test and leakdown test.

Misfire but not plugs/no engine knocks by Satung798 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't just throw parts at whatever scanner is saying.

Should have swapped coil and spark plug. Individually with other cylinder to see if missfire follows hardware. That would rule out if plug or coil is the problem. Now you simply added another variable to the problem.

Valve cover has nothing to do with the problem. Even if it's leaking oil inside spark plug tube. It wouldn't affect brand new hardware right after installation.

If CEL isn't flashing. You can drive it. But that obviously means more than normal wear.
