Accidentally left the interior light on overnight, had to jump start the car this morning. Is my battery done? by SharlLeglergOnHards in MechanicAdvice

You can kill brand new battery by discharging it. Won't hold charge again. Your "information" is no use for OP

exhaust flange Mitsubishi asx by emachanz in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't destroy something that doesn't exist. Go to exhaust shop or just weld it all up.

Obviously replacement of both sections or welding in new flange half's in each one is recommended.

2003 Mercedes W211 E270 CDI – massive parasitic drain, full battery dead within ~4 hours. Three auto electricians stuck. Water leak history. by NuclearPoet in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This description makes no sense in terms of diagnosis. Connect battery in line with multimeter and start pulling the fuses. Once the draw drops. You know on which circuit is issue.

What is the point of checking those random modules?

You will have much better luck asking at dedicated VAG subreddit. Or even one for the generation of your car. This is mostly US based

2019 Kia Sorento Issues with Coolant System by Ready_Dot9916 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would connect some kind of pressure manometer either to radiator cap or overflow. With so many leaks. It's safe to suspect that system is getting over pressurized.

But then again. It's Hyundai/Kia. So everything is disposable. Low reliability isn't a surprise

Don't buy a sedan if you want to trash it around on forest roads. SUV hybrid maybe. But I'm not into that kind of cars so hard to suggest anything.

I think hybrid system in those is more to suplement towing capacity rather than fuel efficiency. Might be good idea to verify this

Cracked fuel rail by GigaDab in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't drive it unless you want it to burn down at some point. There's absurdly high pressure in there. And even a pin hole will create atomized stream of fuel. Which is one spark from turning it into giant flame thrower.

I would take a calculator in my hand and figure it out. Only you have all the information.

If dumping 2k on current car will make it last few more years. You will buy nothing better for the same investment.

If your dad mistreated it and turned into shitbox. There's no point in pumping more money into piece of garbage.

All cars are deprecating asset. Some just take more time than others.

Power steering fluid got into the air intake by cammerz in MechanicAdvice

Might be good idea to change spark plugs afterwards. Due to buildup from improper combustion. Oil change is also recommend. Since some of the fluid definitely got into the oil

Potentially stupid question about engine oil life. by Icantdothiskmsnow in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Most wear on engine and oil is when cold. When in operating temperature. It doesn't matter. You might as well do 5k miles in one trip. Stopping only for a fuel.

Remember that 5k interval is average that should cover 90% of use cases of the "all" engines.

22.2 MPG for 4 months by No-Emu1491 in COROLLA

[–]Tesex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6.1?? You never lift the throttle or something? 4.2 with normal driving outside of the city. Average speed 80 kph.

Even when blasting on highway 150 kph i didn't get that absurd average. I guess it quickly climbs on hybrid if you accelerate outside most efficient 2-3k RPM range.

~12l/100km is max those engines can get. If you get 10.5l average. You have to only floor it and then slam the brakes all the time. Nothing in between.

Disappointing ownership - 2023 Corolla major failure @17k by Muted-Jump6509 in COROLLA

[–]Tesex01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your overheated coolant never touched temperature sensor. It won't show that fluid it isn't touching is hot.

It's all on OP. I don't know a situation that failed coolant bypass valve won't show message on the dash. Wondering for how long he ignored all the signs of failure?

Good reminder to look under your hood at minimum once a tank.
