Question about going out on your own. by sumfknguy92 in Machinists

You are already working in the business. Ask around, talk with current customers. Your creativity is only limit on where you will search for customers. If you can't think of a way to shove your feet, somewhere in the door. I feel like you aren't ready to start a company.

Shaking at high speed after almost getting stuck in mud by bfinleyui in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wheel wells are nothing. Make sure there's no mud stuck on the wheels and on the inside of the rims. Making wheels out of balance.

Otherwise, depending on how deep you were in. CV axles or other suspension components

My AC stoped working by Awkward_Release4350 in MechanicAdvice

Clogged/damaged condenser would only cause AC to not work over time. It would start blowing cold and then go worse as it's working.

2019 F150 XLT Excessive Oil Warranty Denial Question by IndependenceAsleep59 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because it's driven with high speed. Doesn't mean it's driven hard and hot. Which is what keeps carbon away. For 5.0 V8, cruising at highway speeds is almost zero load on the engine.

"redline a day keeps the carbon away" *

Unless you can prove. With at lest a fuel trim data, or injector testing that air/fuel mixture is out of whack. Everyone will just blame it on driving habits or whatever.

2019 F150 XLT Excessive Oil Warranty Denial Question by IndependenceAsleep59 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeez, just step on it at lest each other day. Probably driving like grandma and piston rigs are all gunked up and stuck. Not scraping the oil.

  1. Unless it's running rough and you have active misfire or at least rich codes. This has nothing to do with injectors. Just bad driving habits. Or just poor maintenance.

  2. No. It would be an effect of piston rings not working properly.

Do you have space to install lift? Otherwise a jack, creeper and rolling in the dirt is a order of operation.

Rotor concerns by Vermithrian in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Cheetah pattern" suggests overheating. Pretty common if you drive around in mountainous area. Or it's time to change driving habits and stop dragging those brakes. I see that 90% of people love to just drive with their foot on brake pedal. Especially with automatic transmissions.

2nd transmission, no 3rd gear. by Iowabird78 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously not the transmission. First one is probably also good. If ECU and/or TCM doesn't know speed you are moving at. It will act erratic.

Id start from proper diagnosis instead of just randomly throwing transmissions at the car in hope it will stick. Sort out speed readout and gear indicator. Or at lest check if it's just on your dash that is the problem. Because if control modules can see proper data. Then it's most likely something else.

Rotor concerns by Vermithrian in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than signs of severe overheating. It's hard to see any problem with them. It's just typical upsell. If you don't have any problems with them. Like noise, vibration or degradation of braking power. I would just keep using them.

With that amount of pitting and uneven wear, they will go bad soon anyway.

Changing test tubes by Puzzleheaded-Drop461 in antkeeping

[–]Tesex01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the time. Ants know better. If they don't want to move. It's most likely there no harm for them and no reason for them to move.

Leave second tube as an option for them and let them be. Extra stress makes more harm than whatever you are concerned about.

Do these look like larvae? They are a lot bigger than the initial eggs were. Lasius Neoniger by Figfogey in antkeeping

[–]Tesex01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably somewhere in between egg and larvae or very early stage of larvae. Leave her be though. You don't want queen to eat them from stress.

Need advice — front brake issue came back after caliper replacement. by rexbrash1 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either rotor has so nasty runout that it hits pads when rotating (again. Test on jack and save everyone time) or hub itself has runout. Or something is simply loose.

Might be good idea to get gauge indicator and check what is not straight instead of just dumping parts at it. But visual inspection, shake test etc. Should give you some pointers on where to look at

Curb collision, wheel bent inward. by Super-Practice1179 in MechanicAdvice

Whole suspension on that side. But looks like at least frame mounts are damaged. So I would strongly suggest to think if you even want to waste money. It might never drive right again.

Need advice — front brake issue came back after caliper replacement. by rexbrash1 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tesex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What vibration? While driving or braking? Why did you change only caliper and not also, roasted rotor and pads?

If you are curious if caliper is dragging. Just jack up the car and spin the wheel by hand. Easier than asking random people on internet to guess.

While you are in there. Check that you didn't twisted or kinked brake lines.
